I can only imagine what cowboys said about trains compared to their horses, same discussion different topic, people have to evolve with the times or it will pass you by........

It's starting to become more accepted within the DJ community to be using some type of time coded solution. Like Serato for example.

Serato is a respected product because it doesn’t do it all for you. They are committed to making things as close to vinyl as possible. It’s not automated…..there is no sync feature, auto beat match, auto queue, auto pitch, etc. It’s the closest product out there to vinyl.

Virtual DJ on the other hand IS automated. Weather you choose to use their automated features is up to the user. Until VDJ comes out with a stripped down (“pro”) version of the software without all the auto features…..it will never be a respected product in the “pro” dj community.
VDJ can be used by anyone…..but it attracts beginners because of some of the neat and helpful features built into it.

Everybody drives a car, but none of us are Jimmy Johnson....anybody can paint with a brush, but none of us are Michal Angelo....We can all swim, but that doesn't make us Michael Phelps.....I play basketball, but I am not Michael Jordan.

Again, it is not the tools you use but the end result that happens when YOU use them.

The last I will ever say on this argument is....grow up, man up, respect up and don't be a fraidy cat about not "looking cool", just do your job and do it well with whatever tools you choose to use and leave eveybody else to do the same...if you can't do that do us all a favor and get your ass out of the game cause your attitude is what ruins the reputations of ALL Djs.

When I got a chance to play in front of Carl Cox with my system he was blown away. He said something like....I need to find a new job.


I have about 2000 LPs, 5000 CDs, 700 cassette tapes and even a few hundred 8 tracks! I have even used a reel to reel a few times! VDJ has revolutionized what we do and I think they will continue to do so.


I can't thank them enough for making life easier for me!


So I will continue to NOT be a DJ.......

Today with all the technology out there I would say that everything has an automated feature involved unless you run on 100% Vinyl. 10 years ago DJs had to stump their feet to count beats, now the mixer tells you the BPMs. What is not automated is your brain! which you need to make sense out of the mixes. You still have to work Virtual DJ to make a good mix so stop talking S**T about my favorite Software! lol

The main purpose of dj software is to allow you have all your music for easy access. No more carrying crates or too many cds. Using a laptop is still dj ying. You are playing mp3 files. Why would i carrying a bunch of crates and still not have all the songs i need when i can have all in a small HD that weighs 1 pound. 1 pound with thousands of mp3s or a mini van to carry all the crates.

DJ-e-lectric, you are on the money, but you are wasting your wisdom on small minded, helmet wearing, little school bus riding, retards. If you are under 35 please insert the term "Mentally Challenged". At 56, I am as old school as they come, and have been doing this for 41 years. Do I look like I give a puck what someone else thinks? I can't believe we are still having this conversation. I never let anyone define who I am, and care even less what someone with a big ego and small mic thinks. Some just came to the party, and think they know what's going on. These guys can't carry my headphone, so why would I take anything they say seriously? Their arguments are weak, and do not deserve an intelligent response. The worst part is, the argument is not even theirs, they are just repeating what some other brainiac started. It is so pathetic, that some would actually waste their time, trying to define what others do. Get real, get a clue, get a life, get pen and paper to take notes, and get the puck out of my booth.

This reminded me an old Russian joke (I'm not sure if it's gonna sound funny after translation): One man came to the owner of the circus and offered his service. He said: I have a unique duo consisting of crocodile playing on piano and singing behemoth. Circus owner said: OK, let's give it a shot. After the first performance they had a huge success. Then second performance, third...... The man makes lots of money. The crowd is going crazy. Then circus owner said to the man: There is got to be a secret, it is not that you tell it is. I know you are cheating somehow. The man replied: Yes, I'm cheating. But please don't tell anyone. The truth is that crocodile is playing on piano and singing and behemoth is just opening his mouth.....
 
That was a good joke. Does Serato have pitch bend? Key lock?

By the way, I'm not the oldest.

We had this same joke in America in the 90's....called them Milli Vanilli!
