The sound drivers are very important with Atomix... I remember on my first config, I had some old drivers for my integrated sound card and it never worked... since I change my OS (it was Win Me) to win XP because the good drivers were undiscoverable on the net... It's all about drivers releases...

Atomixmp3 skips with the integrated soundcard on my notebook too!
I have updated all drivers...
No solution

I have used the previous version of Atomix and have had no complaints really. I have DL'ed the newer version of Atomix cause I wanted to intergrate this system into the club that I Dj at. The skipping in this newer version is a real nuisance and I would like Atomix to rememdy the situation because as it stands now I am quite embarrased of the software at the moment to even think of showing it at the club or to friends.

Hp Pavillion 7955, Windows XP, Pentium 4, 30 gig Hard Drive, 1 gig RAM, internal Audigy 2 Platinum audio card, routed to Numark Mixer. pre defrag, and disk clean up. and no other programs running.

this may sound stupid, but you may have a corrupted copy of atomix. Have you tryed to re-install atomix? download the demo version to see if that works. install it while all your sound cards are on the system. Good luck!

Hi Peroz !

Swithcing to Classic Mode is better for system performance because it uses as little colors or graphics as possible:

Right-click on your desktop, and then click Properties.
Click on Themes tab
Set Themes to Windows Classic
Click on the Screen Saver tab
Set Screensaver to None
Press the Power button near the bottom
Power Schemes..you can have the monitor turn off but set Turn Hard Drives off to NEVER Hibernate..If this is Enabled uncheck it. This is mainly for Laptops but uses a very large chunk of data. (I've seen this not show up on the first boot of XP..when you restart it will be there but it's disabled) APM..Enabling this will allow your computer to shut down properly when in Standard PC mode Hit OK
Click the Appearance tab.
On the Windows and Buttons menu, select Windows Classic
Press Effect button
Deselect all options.
Hit OK
Click the Settings tab
Set your bit depth to 16Bit. This is optimal for Audio machines due to less colors for video drawback which in turn gives you better audio performance

Right Click My Computer and select Properties:
System Restore tab:
Check the Turn System Restore on all drives.
Automatic Updates tab:
Turn Off Automatic Updates.
Remote tab:
Uncheck all options to turn off Remote Assistance.
Advanced tab:
Press Settings tab under Performance
Visual Effects tab:
set to Adjust for Best Performance.
Advanced tab:
Processor Scheduling:
Set this for Background Services
Memory Useage:
Set this for System Cache
Virtual Memory:
Press Change...
Depending on how much RAM you actually have is what you are going to enter here

If you have 256MB RAM set this to 512 for Min and Max
If you have 512MB RAM set this to 768 for Min and Max
If you have 1024MB RAM set this to 1536 for Min and Max
Once entered hit SET..Hit OK and then Hit OK..

Restart your machine at this point in time...
When you come back the first thing you should do is defrag the main drive even if it doesnt say it needs it. This way the swap file has been truly set and you're ready to continue.

Hope it helps.

Hey Peroz,

Did you ever get your system stable? If so - what did you end up doing? Seems like I am probably in the same boat.
:-/

disable all the other backround programs such as antivirus etc. Open atomix then minimize it then go to task manager (ctrl+alt+del) then to Processes right click on atomixmp3.exe and Set priority to Real time:)

I' ve worked on this problem since last july and I have tryed every type of setting... I have already done all u suggest without solution. Thank u however.
My notebook is under repairing for some problems to the screen and I have shown the skip problem to the reparation service: they will tell me soon if it is a problem from atomixmp3 or from my notebook.

Hey Peroz,

Did you ever get the skipping issue under control? If so - what did you do for the 'final fix'?

I ran into the same problem when upgrading from a SB Live to an Audigy 2.

The Audigy, Extigy, and Audigy 2 share a similar feature.

Look in your document for the sound card to find out how to disable CMSS (Stereo Up-mix to Multichannelation). This process can be extremely intensive and directly effects MP3 play back.

The problem is not with Extigy since it is indeed behaving the way it should. Unfortunately, that particular feature is not compatable with atomix.
