This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

oh my... Ok, I have to give this a shot simply because I felt the same way you are feeling now when I got the controller and I was not able to do something as simple as to choose a Skin resolution that would make better use of my desktop resolution. 1st. off; c'mon, let's be honest here; u know as well as everybody else how retail business works "today". In order to stay competitive as a business you "must" offer products at different price points (and therefore # of features) otherwise many consumers that cannot afford their one and only package will go away. Secondly, Denon has to provide a software to drive their controller, in this case they choose VDJ because is a popular choice among emerging digital DJs and for Denon to develop their own DJ software wold not make any economic sense. By the same token, they cannot offer the full version of VDJ simply because Denon would have to bump up the price of the MC6000, again, many users will turn their heads away. The best compromise that we see in recent times is the use of "Limited" versions of the software; a version that would allow the hosting device to be fully functional but nothing more. And sorry to say, many times the asthetics & perks become part of the features that LE's do not have.

Furthermore your analogy about the car would be a bit innacurate because air is something you "must" have in order to use your car; a reasonable comparison would be if the JOG WHEELS on the controller would be desactivated in the LE version. That would give you and all of us definitive reason to complain about it.

But like I said, you know this, and so do we. Let me skip skip to the bottom line and tell you how I came about it. Just like you I was so frustrated to me the simple fact that was not able to switch resolutions, very simple thing right? And later on what triggered me to upgrade was so that I could attempt to change the 1-2-3-4 default channel mapping that I just could not get used to. Knowing very well how retail works in current days, changing the business model would be comparable to changing the U.S. constitution. (ultimately possible but ain't happening) I am new to the professional digital DJ'ing, as a matter of fact I have yet to recover any money back from the equipment that I purchased to support the MC6000 such as the upgrade cost to the PRO, a new laptop, the Oddessy case, Fruitty Loops software and some additional fees in music. However I looked at this purchases as an "investment". Sure is scary having to shell out extra $$$ now but being able to change resolutions and support custom controller maps and overall getting the program to behave exactly the way I want; are necessary things for me to have in order to set up my station in a way I feel confident enough to divert my attention away from the equipment and being able to focus on pleasing the crowd and giving them a good quality time. Now, sure; investments are not always sucessfull but I am being positive and really looking forward to "fully" recovering my investment through future performances with the use of the new digital equipment. And a final thought: if DJ'ing is important to you as it is to most of us, then I am pretty confident you will also see this as an investment that should pay itself as you share something as inspiring as music and the pleasure of seeing people enjoy your work.

Anyways, I am not trying to contradict you at all. You point is very clear and in many ways I agree with you. However I just wanted to share my thoughts on this with you. Opinions also matter, I'm pretty sure if enough users strongly see this as a negative feature, Atomix may release a future version of their LE software that would let you do further tweaks.

Cheers Jordan...

Has anyone else experienced the "Static" problem with a Mac?
I see lots of fixes for the driver on a PC, but nothing for a Mac.

All my tracks sound like they are being played on a 100-year old record player.
And, especially the quiet parts of songs are particularly static-ee.
I get no static through the headphones, and no static when I use my computer's internal speakers.

I run my Macbook Pro / Denon MC6000 / Mackie Powered Speakers.

I can not shake this static.

Any advice?

I apologize for my douche-baggery. I've got all my kinks out and updates together now. I misunderstood what the xpac contoller and skins were for.

Please don't think i'm an @ hole because of this thread. Don't get me wrong I am an a$$hole just not because of this thread.

Now to turn this all over.

When I was unboxing my MC6K it's a bit overwhelming all the different settings, for controller and VDJ/Torq, PC vs Mac, switches and flips in the back, ideal set up for minimum resources and older machines, vs all out midi max ram blow'n up make'n recordings with Ableton running filtering effects while you're stream'n porn for fun.

After reading the forums, and suffering through the same freezes, and problems people were having while playing out... I've learned what everything I read was.

All this info is in here, but could we get one post explaining why you'd chose INT MIX vs PC MIX, why you use headphones out with PC MIX vs external mixer with INT.
This could go in tandem with the setup page I've used

Could we have a all in one spot the links for the 7.0.2 VDJ, the updated Asio Driver, AND the firmware update.

I've finally got it all together, know what's what and got the kinks out. I'm thinking we should link up soundclouds and start showing off what we can do with this sweet machine! I'll have my first mix sometime this weekend.

Ok guys last thing really! I know I'm the caboose on this whole "getting to know you MC6000" But I appreciate you all being patient, and quick with your responses.

I've been following what kradcliffe was talking about as far as using the loopack recording, and I've got my working. There is a problem with it tho, the recording that comes out sounds completely crushed. Now there's many simple ways to fix that dropping signal strength, but then i'm all sub 0db.

My goal here is to be able to have in theory cdj's and/or turntables and my computer all at once, all play out and to record it.

I guess I'm missing an recording input volume, or a volume out of the mixer? Right now if I turn everything down to suitable recording strength there's not enough db for any kind of live PA signal.

I've gotta be missing something, any thoughts?

thx

update - had a lockup on friday while turning the jog wheels with the asio sample rate set to what was suggested by dj homeboy (357 samples).

Windows 7 comes on tuesday so i'll be able to test it by the weekend and will let you guys know if I still get the issue. It would make sense with the MIDI problem in vista and the sheer amount of data that gets sent with over 2000 points of measure per rotation.

You have to turn the Recording Device in the control panel,

In this case, it's the Micrphone(DN MC6000), I had to turn it down to 15% or so... But there's the fix

It is caused by the jog wheel sensitivity setting, when the firmware was updated it cause the left jog wheel sensitivity to drop down to the lowest setting, but kept the right jog wheel on default.

If that doesn't work (and the deck is set to scratch mode); let us know and we'll try and help.

Hey there guys i just got my 6000 yesterday and it works great but i have 1 issue in the performance tab under master tempo the pure scratch and fast stertching works great but advance stretching sounds horrible has anyone had any problems whith this if so how can i fix it?

I have been try'n various settings in config. to get this 6000 to have a good feel for scratch'n. I have never used a record player in my life and would not know what scratch'n on a turntable would feel like anyway. But I would like to be able to do it and practice to get better at it on my mc6000.
My question is... At optimal setup for scratch'n, would you use this thing for a Pro DJ club gig... as a means for good scratch'n?
Does the performance of your laptop make for better quality sounding scratch's?
Where are you guys setting the jog sensitivity in config. for scratch'n
What setting are your platters set at for touch?
Besides vinyl setting in config. is their another setting for scratch'n?
What settings in config. performance are optimal for the best use of scratch'n. Latency and what not.
What I'm try'n to say is... Even If I did know how to scratch I'm not sure if I'm happy w/ either the response of the 6000
or the scratch'n sound/ability of VDJ.
DJ Qbert, What do you think? LOL

We will roll out a fix but for now try 513 for the sample rate in the asio config panel.

The DN-MC6000 is not designed for scratching, the ability is there but that's not what the unit is made for.

Numark V7 / NS7 is what you need if you are serious about scratching.

That's what I needed to hear!
Thanks!
I new I sucked at scratch'n but something just was not right besides me.
Now if I could only get this custom mapping thing figured out I'd be rock'n!
Thanks again for info.

Alright next thing on my "6000 to do list"
can someone please "spell out" and email it to me the mapping for
how a dude i saw in a video used the jog wheel while holding down what looked liked the echo 1 button to modulate/change the sound of the effect
like when turning effect knob 3 with an effect activated.
I spent hours try'n to get this to link up.
Thanks in advance.

I use 357 with advanced stretching and that is fine for me (it's 7ms). I did also find one for 6ms that worked with advanced stretching but can't remember what it was.

Hi guys,

I've installed Windows 7 and tried setting up the Denon to mix, I've spent hours fiddling with the latency settings and I cannot for the life of me get it to stop crackling and popping. I've tried all the recommended settings and it will just not go away.

Might have to revert back to Vista as lock ups are better than crap sound.

Wasn't it mentioned a way back that by dropping the hardware acceleration of the graphics card a step or two cures this?

It's all in the fine turning chap, W7 is definitely the way to go :)

Unfortunately I can't turn hardware acceleration down :(.

Will keep tweaking!
