Do not worry, Deferred Procedure Calls (DPC) is not an easy concept especially if you don't have good knowledges in computers. But it's a very important thing to test and the problem is some manufacturers believe that their customers are so stupid to understand it so they sometimes sell low quality products (hardware / drivers).
 
 
 
 
the tech from dell did a check on my laptop, and sd if i change my video card it will help with the high DPC latency, i guess i will have to call dell and have them pick there laptop and exchange it,

the bad thing is i can go with another brand other than dell, cuz my sister has an account with them and that how i got this one, can some one please advice on what other dell lap top is good for dj, the rep was saying that xps are good , but dont know is i should trust them
 
How about this HP Pavilion X16-1040us will this one give me any problems on DPC Latency

Glad to hear you finally get it sorted out. Another bad image for Dell.
I also suggest Toshiba or MSI laptops, both have 2 years of warranty and good quality. On better MSI laptops you have 5.1 sound card which works great ;)

Yep, Dell Studio was collected at noon today, sadly I'll probably never buy a Dell again, although I'm currently using a 4 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 to do the job (with shared graphics too!). It's just a bit slow with a 1.6m single processor.

Now the quest is on to find something else to do the job. Toshiba's used to have problems with the sound chips and were a no no for DJing (with audio only), they OK now?

Never heard of MSI, do they sell in the UK? Will have to check them out on the 'net.

Been seriously thinking of the Apple Mac route, bit expensive, but, still not sure about them either. Is the Macbook OK for Video? It seems to have shared graphics or is the Macbook Pro necessary with the extra graphics card?

If u gonna do audio n some basic video mixing, it is ok to get the macbook but if u gonna do serious n intense video mixing, better get the macbook pro;)

I also using HP on my other machine apart from the macbook. But it is an older model (2006 model) but it is good so far till now..not giving me "major"problem;)
 
Get a Macbook Pro, and don't run Vista, I hate Vista, had huge issues getting DPC Latency on my Macbook Pro down, dual booted XP, no issues.

120W PSU? Pah, my M1730 has a 230W PSU. It's like carrying a house brick around in your laptop bag!

Seriously though, should be a good machine as long as it has a decent CPU. That page conveniently misses out any detail about that.
 
 
I actually prefer the first system you pointed to (as long as it has a Core2Duo and not a crappy celeron) as the current line of AMD processers have fallen behind IMHO.
 
I agree, but that Centrino based model is ruined with ddr2 memory on ATI4850 card! That card uses even ddr5 on desktop solutions, so this is very weak point of the video card and system for video use overall. I don't say it will not work, but just want to point out that was very bad move by MSI.
 
im looking at the alienware line.. yeah its a dell but its supposed to be designed for this stuff...
