I know that it is possible to use the Serato SL1 interface with Virtual DJ. Is it possible to use the TTM-57 with Virtual DJ?

NO - not to control VDJ or use it's built-in sound card - as a normal mixer with a separate sound card - sure. But that is an awful expensive mixer then.

While I don't have one (and probably won't buy one), I would have thought this would work. Why would an SL1 box work as a sound card for VDJ via timecode, while this mixer with built in soundcard fail to work for VDJ via timecode?

The TTM-57 is tightly integrated with Serato. If you don't launch the Serato software the hardware doesn't work. The TTM is not a mixer with a soundcard. IT is a integral part of the whole Serato package and locked to function with their software. The SL1 was not as tightly designed and integrated it was their first device and didn't take it that far on 'locking it down'.

As I have often asked before......are there any plans btwn vdj and any dj-hardware manufacturer to come up with something like this for US???
Posted Wed 06 Aug 08 @ 12:26 pm
Just like in our 'future' development and features, even if there was such a plan in place; we would not share that information.
But there are several components like this out there that we currently support through MIDI and the recognition of the built-in sound cards.

I think maybe they should lay off the hardware and get the software working first in terms of TCV.

I'm guessing that's a NO.......

A mapped pio 800 for vdj has noticeable inferior differences from the rane 57 for that other software. (1st hand witness account).

I tried the Demo of VDJ 5.1 with my Rane TTM57SL. I can use the mixers two soundcards properly with VDJ with my HC4500.
But I did not configure it and try it with SSL control signal vinyls.

Are you sure that VDJ was using the TTM and not the soundcard on the HC4500 ?

No, you can use the TTM57-SL soundcard with VDJ just fine... but you are limited to the two output channels. You can not use the inputs at the same time as using the outputs...
effectively... that makes it worthless imho

what drivers are you using?

just install the asio drivers for the ttm57 and you can use it to root the two decks to chanel a and b. in vdj use "asio soundcard" and choose ttm57 as soundcard. it will work really great.
lets wait what will happen in the relationship between rane and serato. maybe soon they will divorce and than come the firmwareupdates for the 57 to open midi control and "full" audio interface funcion for timecode... i think serato itch (developt with numark) ist the beginning of the end from the relationship between rane and serato.... btw, the ttm57 is the best mixer i ever owned ;-)
p.s. sry for my horrible english...

So, has anyone confirmed this? TTM57+ASIO drivers + VDJ?

true the mixer will show up in asio list however it is not usable unless u have another soundcard connected like maya44 or sl1 or something.
i have the sl1 ,maya44usb,ttm57, i havent tried the 5500 internal soundcard yet but have tried the others and depending on the gig .yes i have ran the maya /sl1 with ttm57 and the scratches were flawless (but still just an expensive mixer when used that way like said b4)
would be nice but doubt if it happens anytime soon.

that is simply NOT true.
the ttm57sl works also without starting the ssl software. you can use the built in effects and the integrated soundkard.
the effekts are NOT in the ssl software, there are built in to the mixer. the ssl software only gives a visual feedback from the effekt unit and u can coose which effekt will be on which bank.
the ttm57sl also has full built in asio interface with 2x stereo output. you can install the asio drivers from rane/serato and use it as soundcard. but u cant use a timecodefunction with other programms than ssl.
the sl-1 has full asio support with 2xstereo input and 2xstereo output. so you can use also the timecodefunction with every other programm who is supporting asio drivers.

That is the whole reason people ask about the TTM57 ... is they want to use it just like they do with SSL. And it can't be done - as you stated.
Sure, if you just want to use it like a mixer with NO Timecodes then great ... but that is not why people ask.

i see one question:

and this is possible.
limited to the 2x stereo outputs. but it works perfect.
Posted Thu 11 Jun 09 @ 10:49 pm
and you took it out of context from the statement before it ...
Also, you haven't been on these boards for 6yrs and seeing the same question over and over .... and if you say Yes, to the question ... they come back and bitch because they can't use Timecode ....
