hehe, don't do that, think of the guy who has to clean it up..lol. Well, it's not a great sound system but it does the job for now, as my rep. grows I'll be taking out a small business loan for all new equipment plus a van, but that could still be a ways from now. heh, honesty to me is a must, the clients who hire me always know the pros & cons of hiring me at my current rates;^]

edit: Forgot to mention I do have a crate bx100 bass amp that I use as a subwoofer.

Okay Tim I understand you are on a very tight budget.

For the immediate future why are you looking to get tabletop cd players?

For timecode use?

I'm not sure why you're getting a rackmount mixer and table top players. For someone such as yourself with limited funds, I would look for BANG-FOR-THE-Buck functionality, and reliablity.

Here is a dac2 for under 200.00 CAD

This in combination with that Vestax mixer will give you a very good set-up for mobile dj'ing. (I know cause i used to use this EXACT set-up - check my blog)

I've gone "without a net" (no cd back-up) almost every gig. I have that much confidence in my home built compy.

Those Stanton players look very nice - but you can do all the features that they offer already internally in VDJ.

P.S. I bought my dac2 used as well.

No, I'm looking for cd use in the player, I've already got a herc. RMX reserved (sold my turntables for it). I've got back up cd players in my gemsound cdm 150, and I may decide the extra features aren't important enough to ignore building a better sound system. but I could surely put those extra features to work. I keep cd players though for more than backup, especialy at the clubhouse, when clients have cd's from their own collections they want to be played. I'm kinda thinking I might be wise to put the $300 on my sound system, I'll probably go by hometown music tomorrow & see what kind of deals they can cut me on a new amp & speakers, if nothing better than what I've got already then back to the cd players..lol;^]

I so stupid, I hadn't even thought about this. If the RMX runs smoothly when I get it, and if I buy the stanton c.314 (still not finding any negative reviews of it), I'll no longer need my mk2 or the cdm 150. Plus I've got a fast track pro that's only been used a few times (been sitting in the closet for 6+ months), so if I sold all three after I get my RMX & get at least $300 for them then boom, there's my second cd deck. hehe, just wheeling & dealing in my mind as usual..lol Still, it's good to know what I want before I have the money;^]

Nothing wrong with doing your homework Timmy... I always plan out my next purchase. Its a good thing I dont have a girlfriend or wife telling me when to stop though..lol...

hehe, my last girlfriend hated my shopping habits, but it was ok 'cause I hated her nagging habits..lol. Seriously though that's my thoughts exactly, nothing like paying $400 for a $300 deck because you waited 'till the last minute to check it out. heh, if I go with the 314's it may even be worth building a case for, cd decks on both sides of the rmx & the mixer behind it. haha, I feel like a 5 year old waiting on christmas..lol;^]

@ A Man And His Music; Just thought I'd show you the main PA I'm working with.

The amp is only 80 watts and the cabs are 10"ers (bridges stereo to mono via tape input in the back), but it actualy sounds pretty good and it handles most small to medium sized venues pretty well. I've got a simmilar audio choice PA at moms that I use in conjunction with my kustom for larger gigs. I do want to upgrade but $300 won't buy me anything much better so I'll probably save my PA upgrade for the next thing after CD decks & the vestax mixer.

Sorry for the continual bumps of this thread, I've got a cold right now & I tend to babble when I'm sick;^]

Use what ya got Timmy - till you can afford the new stuff.

I've seen small PA's like that in lots of little dive Blues Bars. (used to play in a blues band) The stage is off in a corner and all the amplification comes from the giutar/bass amps. and only the vocals goes through the little PA. (and a CD player for in between sets)

Thanks, again my thoughts exactly. I was surprised when I got it, had to turn the bass all the way up to sound right but that not only gives it a good thump but the bass is very clear, not distorted in the least the way the audio choice does. I'd buy a Kustom system again in a heart beat if I had to buy a value brand product;^]
