Topic: do all songs start a 1.1 bars?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Software: Virtual DJ 2020
Controller: DDJ-200
I'm a novice bedroom DJ

Some songs will load at negative bar counts. For instance Antidote from Travis Scott starts a -8.1 bars.

1. Why does this happen?
2. How can I fix this?
3. Does it even matter?

I notice when songs don't start a 1.1 bars that its harder to get through a transition. Let me know.

Thanks

When a track has an ambient intro without "beats" it's absolutely normal to start with negative bars.
1.1 Bar is placed where the software thinks the first "beat" of the song is.

Understood. But why would songs start with bars -8.1 or -40.1 etc. I have a whole bunch of tracks that start with a high negative start. And obviously it’s wrong. Any way to fix this? Is it the song source? Anything to steer me into the proper direction will be greatly appreciated.

Once again this wrong confusing bar notation bar 1:1 vs 1.1 bars ^^
Music starts at bar 1:1 (mesure name, with colon) and track can start before
Music starts at 0.0 beats ( count in bars) and track can start before

Yes PoisEditor is there for this purpose

you can modify FirstBeat ...
