I have the same problem with misalignment of the beatgrid as al above.
All of my songs are mp3. I'm working with the windows version 1878

After testing with more than 1000 Songs i have found what happens for me.

1. Load an unscanned song in a deck (this scans for bpm and aligns the beatgrid). At this moment it seems everthing ok with the grid.
2. Write with the tageditor the bpm, key and length to the mp3 tag.
3. Unload the song from the deck and load it again. At this time most of my songs have a misaligned beatgrid.
4. Re-Analyze BPM with a rightclick on context-menu. Now the beatgrid is shifted to the correct position.

It makes no difference analyzing the songs by loading in a deck or batch analyze the songs. After writing the tags to the files the beatgrid is misaligned.
Analyze in batch-mode a second time didn't align the beatgrid. So i have to do it song by song and thats annoying.
A precise aligned beatgrit is the base for mixing beat in beat. All the stunning features of VDJ8 can't compensate perfect prepared songs in the datase.

Please dev-team fix this soon.

Tried this a couple of times, but the grid stays in the same position as it was after the first analyze when the song was loaded to the deck
You didn't open the tag editor until after the scan was complete right?

after messing about with this problem more i am sure that it occurs when there is a crash during the tagging process.

Here is an example whats happend in the V8 Database:

1. Song unscanned in V8 Database (it's from V7 Database)

<Song FilePath="D:\media\Audio\Music\Latin Pop\Carlito - Carlito (Whos That Boy).mp3" FileSize="5218100">
<Tags Author="Carlito" Title="Carlito (Whos That Boy)" Genre="Latin Pop" Album="Latino Dance Party 2005 - CD2" Remix="Whos That Boy" TrackNumber="05" Year="2005" Bpm="0.500000" Key="Am" Flag="1" />
<Infos FirstSeen="1400412653" Cover="2" />
</Song>

2. Song after loading into a deck and saving tags to file with tag editor

<Song FilePath="D:\media\Audio\Music\Latin Pop\Carlito - Carlito (Whos That Boy).mp3" FileSize="5218100">
<Tags Author="Carlito" Title="Carlito (Whos That Boy)" Genre="Latin Pop" Album="Latino Dance Party 2005 - CD2" Remix="Whos That Boy" TrackNumber="05" Year="2005" Bpm="0.500000" Key="Am" Flag="1" />
<Infos SongLength="195.186939" FirstSeen="1400412653" Bitrate="214" Color="4278192882" Cover="2" />

<Poi Pos="-1.354422" Type="beatgrid" />
<Poi Pos="0.142222" Type="automix" Point="realStart" />

<Poi Pos="193.640635" Type="automix" Point="cutEnd" />
<Poi Pos="34.646304" Type="automix" Point="tempoStart" />
</Song>

3. Song after Re-Analyze

<Song FilePath="D:\media\Audio\Music\Latin Pop\Carlito - Carlito (Whos That Boy).mp3" FileSize="5218100">
<Tags Author="Carlito" Title="Carlito (Whos That Boy)" Genre="Latin Pop" Album="Latino Dance Party 2005 - CD2" Remix="Whos That Boy" TrackNumber="05" Year="2005" Bpm="0.500000" Key="Am" Flag="1" />
<Infos SongLength="195.213061" FirstSeen="1400412653" Bitrate="214" Color="4278192882" Cover="2" />
<Scan Version="800" Bpm="0.500000" AltBpm="0.375000" Volume="1.038841" Key="F#m" />
<Poi Pos="10.671656" Type="beatgrid" />
<Poi Pos="0.168345" Type="automix" Point="realStart" />
<Poi Pos="194.372789" Type="automix" Point="realEnd" />
<Poi Pos="0.092880" Type="automix" Point="fadeStart" />
<Poi Pos="194.025941" Type="automix" Point="fadeEnd" />
<Poi Pos="2.170340" Type="automix" Point="cutStart" />
<Poi Pos="193.666757" Type="automix" Point="cutEnd" />
<Poi Pos="34.672880" Type="automix" Point="tempoStart" />
</Song>

Conclusion:
It happend mostly on mp3 with variable bitrate.
After the second bpm scan the song length, volume, beatgrid and poi's are different to the first scan.
And now the beatgrid is correct aligned.

Another Example with screens:

1. After first bpm scan

2. After tags written unload and reload the song

3. After Re-Analyze the song

Hi there,

I also have problems with the Cue points, which were set in V7. Nearly all moved a little bit to the right. Don't know why.

Additionally deletes V8 all the Tempo- and Cut-Points of the track from V7, when they are first loaded in V8 and sets a new definition.

On most of the tracks Beat 1 is not correct detected by BPM detection.

I really don't like to load and correct all of my (min. 3.000) VDJ-Tracks to see, if everything is imported correctly.

I am using the latest build.

Best regards,
Rag

Thanks, but is there a workaround ?

Didn't wanted to create a new topic. That's why I wrote everything here in.

Put this on a custom button shift_all_cues -(time)ms replace "(time)ms" with the number u need then click the button with the effected track loaded on that deck. If I remember correctly if that doesnt get it u might do a search there were a few threads about it.

I think the idea to shift the poi's and beatgrid with a custom_button could't work while the amount of dislalignment is individual.

VDJ8 has problems with MP3-Files with variable Bitrates also with some CBR with 320Kb/s. It's because it can not recognize the song length at the first attempt. Files with constant bitrate less than 320Kb/s are correct aligned at the firt attempt.
The beatgrid and poi's look good til you unload and reload the song or restart VDJ. At the second time you load the same song in to a deck it recognizes the correct length but the beatgrid and the poi's are now misaligned. So you have to Re-analyze BPM etc.

My workaround until it's fixed is:
Scan a folder or virtual folder in batch for BPM. Mark all files and write the tags to file (i have setTagsAuto = no in the settings).
Scan the folder again for BPM and write the tags to file again.
It's timeconsuming but for me the only way to get a aligned beatgrid and correct poi's until this behavior is fixed.

@proart. Ragman has a different problem then you and I please read his posts carefully :)

My reply doesn't apply to your issue at all.

Am experiencing the same problem with the beat grid, after I adjust the beat grid and set cue points and hit the write tag tab and everything is set for over 300 songs on a new VDJ 8 install took me about 2 hrs so after closing the program then opening the next day all my beat grid and cues changes got shifted to the left so after fixing them again closing the VDJ 8 the reopening now I have the same issues but no all of them is more random for most of the songs. this is getting to be a real problem... note: I have smart cue on and smart play on.

@tommy

I have found if u do not hit write tag that the cues are more likely to remain intact maybe this can help u but it is still a very annoying bug.
pretty sure that writing tags is what is goofing up the grid and cues somehow.

so my process is fix tags close vdj .. reopen it adjust grid and cues and most of the time things stay put as long as u stay away from the write tags button.

Using Build 1932 and problem is still there. And I don't have to do write tags nor anything for the problem to occurr:

- Scanned a new folder with all new tracks
- Adjusted down beat in almost all tracks
- A few tracks down the road I reopened the previous tracks and the beatgrid is shifted

I wonder if the dev team is aware of this issue....

zacek100 am using the latest update and the same problem persist, I've tried not writing tags like some members suggested. I've tried sticking with the original VDJ 8 skin and not switching around with different skins, thinking that maybe that had something to do with the beat grid shifting to the left but no the problem is becoming very serious. Serious enough to go back to Traktor and not to recommend VDJ and I hope that VDJ is aware of this. I can't speak for previous users of VDJ 7 if they had this issue since am new to VDJ, I will like to know if if VDJ 7 is better if so should I switch....

@tommy

vdj7 does not have this problem

also i don't believe it has anything to do with the skin since it happens on all that i have tried.
it seems to happen to tracks i have done in batches. i have yet to have it happen to a track i scanned single and set everything on.

Posted Sat 30 Aug 14 @ 1:08 pm
I have stopped referencing the beat grid. MANY posts on it being wrong or off beat. Cues are also a big problem.

Doesn't seam to be a priority for the developers. I am sure they have bigger issues at the moment.

At some point, it needs addressed.

build 1949

today i setup about 30 tracks for a set adjusted grids and cue point and when i went to use the tracks for a set about 20 of them had the grid and cues moved left kind of a pain in the ass to have to do it twice. I know this isn't a easy one cause its a bit random but please look into it as its not going away. If its any help i also was editing tags when i was adjusting everything maybe that's related i don't know.

Posted Thu 11 Sep 14 @ 8:08 pm
umm, a lot of users keep reporting the issue shows up when manipulating the tags...
