Why isnt the Info Panel also the tag editor?

Same thing I asked a while ago, makes no sense to me. That alone could kill all the right clicking we have to do now!

Probably best suited in the wishes section ;-)

Can i be a beta-tester seems like you dont have such good testers. Not to disrespect, just simple things that think-tank or focus grouping would have help. Great Dev team but whats up with the researchers. Still love software and anything i mention is only a thought to a better workflow.

I hear what your saying and at the moment its a public beta, so you can be involved.
At this stage we are looking at bug fixes and stability issues.

Then we'll move onto improvements. Post it in the wishes forum for now. I think there is a page for Browser suggestions.

+1

Nice idea,
I use Ctr+L to bring up the tag editor (like VLC)
And Ctrl+J for comments (J because I can find it in the dark, and I use the comments field for my interpretation of genre, notes about awkward breaks, good tracks to mix with, just about everything )

I sort of agree that there should be an forum for discussing upcoming features with folk who can come up with decent, implementable ideas (NDC'd of course) beta testers job is just to test, test, test . Atomix could have a great end user QA at zero cost.
(Just to note I am after a job, since I have a sneaking suspicion that several ideas I put forward made it into V8)

True but that is isolated from the actual product development, there is no feedback as to what is actually a good suggestion and what isn't. What is possible and what is just far too niche to bother with. (we like your idea, this is how we might implemented it, what do you think?)
Those that suggest credible ideas should be brought into the development discussion, they came up with something paid employees didn't, for free. It's all well and good to say 'they submitted the idea and we made it, that's their reward' The picture is bigger than that.

What I'm saying (poorly) is a source of good input (at no cost) should be asked for more input. Good beta testers test and figure out how to recreate errors, they might have good idea's too, ideas people might be lousy beta testers but still have the foresight to make the product better.

I do feel you because i begged for the Grouping field and it was implemented. So i feel you.

the info panel as clickable and editable fields was discussed and thought of in early development ;)
was decided on not doing that .. for now at least, maybe it will in future

Can the info panel be removed from the browser completely?

by clicking on the info planel label, the panel will be hidden...so there is actually no need to remove it comletely, cause the infopanel is a new feature of the default skin...

In custom skins with a custom browser yes.

These don't work 100% yet though.

why are you deciding to make things harder, as it is now its just a picture page with no functionality. And every part of a DJ software should be functional. Im starting to understand this, yall have a very elementary way of thinking. Great editors but awful executions. Not enough to switch yet, but enough to say some things make no sense. This is why i say this with the fields that can be used in the browser, the side info panel is mute and serves no real purpose its there as a glitter technique. Dont take my words as disrespect. But when you read on V8 you see the best software on the market, the game changer, it was once said v8 will make all other softwares seem non existent but when you use it your like great sound great look but workflow sucks. So all the things i thought would change for me most have stayed the same. MediaMonkey for tagging and organization. whats crazy is I write all this stuff basically for nothing, because no matter how much common sense it makes..............

lol . .well thats in the eye of the beholder.. I for one think it has tons of functionality .. it lets you view more info fields than ever was reasonable in the regular browser;)
the single thing about editing, was decided to keep in editor (tag editor) for simplicity ..

things might change though, but of course the info panel is very useful ;)

I'm going to +1 on this too.

The info panel is pretty redundant as it stands.

Rather than have a separate tag editor, just add an edit button to the info panel which allows editing of the fields.

The ability to undock and float/resize (like the effects windows) would allow users to expand it if/when required. It could also then be dragged to a 2nd screen.

yeah sure... might come as said..
but its of course not redundant lol . .. and a feature in many well established media players as info only ;)
Its an info panel .. and very useful as is already ;)

but sure maybe a few edit fields might come

i add fields in the browser that match those in the info panel..which i can add or remove to suit my needs. The info panel which shows the same things which makes it redundant as was stated above and its agreeable. Either the browser text lines should editable to the tags or the info panel. Makes it more functional and more efficient for the user. So I say again great ideas poor implementation. Dont worry tho seems like users like beatbreaker, locodog, myself and a couple others are here to think-tank with you guys for free. Just because we love this software, so please dont take anything we say negative but more as constructive info.

well thats your opinion and I strongly disagree..
The info panel is very useful, and far from redundant ..

Besides you can choose what fields you want to have shown in the info panel.. to complement or show more than is practical in the browser. Hence the feature, an extra info panel.

as far as edit field goes, as stated several times, this was decided to keep in editor for now, but that might change or not.
