Hey guy's back again with another problem.

Sound.. sound just stops.
I'm mixing in, nights going smashing, then bang, music just stops, VDJ platters stop moving, sound cuts & doesn't do anything.
I load up config change latency settings to absolutely anything and the sound returns magically again, (for 5-10 mins max) and then repeats and repeats and repeats.

My setup as some of you might remember;
2 x Pioneer CDJ 350
Pioneer DJM350

Settings are External mixer Deck 1/First card Deck 2/Second card.
2 Sound cards - Pionner CDJ 1 & Pioneer CDJ 2.

My old laptop did this so i bought a brand new one which worked fine for approx one week, my laptop specs are;

Processors AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon (tm)
Microsoft Windows 7 operating system
Dolby Digital Advanced Audio V2
6Gb RAM
1Tb (1000Gb) hard drive
USB 2.0, USB 3.0
720p HD webcam

2 Things i can say, i have Ableton Live on my laptop (not sure if this conflicts) & also i have my tracks on USB.
DPC latency checker never leaves green at all.

i use 400's and iv never had a problem like that…

have u updated ur decks??
have u tried using asio??

How long are the USB cables that you're using to link the CDJs to the computer, and where are you running them? Are they near any mains cables for example?

Cables are around 1 meter long & the only mains they see is the cdj powers thats about it.
All firmwires up to scratch too.
Its strange isnt it?
Could it possibly be the CDJS themselves?
The USB i use to connect to PC (driver cables) i had to buy myself because for some reason they didn't arrive with any after stating they should be, could that be a factor?
(bare in mind they worked fine for weeks though)
Puzzling and frustrating!

They worked fine for weeks.......where? At home?

And now you're out gigging and they're playing up?

this might help you (taken from the Pioneer forum).

There are a few threads between this (VDJ) forum, the CDJ-350 and the CDJ-850 forum that discuss users having dropouts of audio and control -- we may have found the source of the problem!

If you are running VDJ Pro, this will be the only way you have to correct the issue - LE users don't have the appropriate settings (although I may be wrong on that, I haven't fully tested it with LE).

Go to your Config, select the Performances tab and where the Sound Card Latency probably reads "AUTO", change that to another value; this value will differ from computer to computer -- use the lowest setting is that doesn't result in hiccupping or glitches in the audio.

It would seem that in AUTO mode, the software tries to dynamically adjust the latency of the soundcard, but in doing so, can cause a disconnect of the driver and thus a total freeze of the controls and the audio playback will stop.

Please try setting this from AUTO to a fixed value and let us know if this resolves any of your issues with the 350/850 as soundcard/controllers for Virtual DJ.

Yeah they worked for weeks at home ay parties.
and as for the the post on pioneer, tried it, doesnt work.
I've tried post on pioneer forum but they never publish it their forums for a worldwide company is pathetic.

The LE version you are using, came with the CDJs, or the mixtrack Pro?

This is a known bug that appears only at 350, just so you know its enough thats you click Apply every time and music starts back, i tried it with a few laptops and they all had the same problem, there is a conflict between the sound card of 350 and the software.
If you change the memory load to "Infiniti" in the performance tab and load a file as long as 30min or 1hr (mixed set) the music will stop after a couple of times, I got on it while testing.

Ahh now that makes more sense, so if there is a problem with a conflict is there anything i can do at all?
e.g using different soundcards to get around this problem, don't really want to leave VDJ, only like this programm & the community :/

I've just got off the phone with pioneer who insists there is nothing wrong with the CDJ soundcards, they have told me to speak to VDJ about this issue but i'm 100% sure it is NOT VDJ as i've had no problems using this program with my Numark controller, i've downloaded the pioneer ASIO drivers from the website and set my config to use this driver as my soundcard and i've increased the latency to near enough full, do you think this may help?
i've never had these drivers before so im hoping this could help me out, i've not had chance to try it yet.

Thinking out loud here:

Do the CDJ350s work at 44.1kHz or 48kHz? Maybe they do both.

If you're using them at 48kHz try changing them to use 44.1kHz instead. VDJ is much happier working at 44.1

what version of virtualdj are you using? Pioneer cdj's don't come with virtualdj so you will need the pro version, also can you post a screenshot of your Pioneer asio driver setup.

I'm not sure what they work at, how would i go around checking/changing?
and yes i will post a SS when im on my laptop and show you, don't forget ive only just downloaded the ASIO drivers and put the latency to near enough full.
and as for the pioneer quote i've tried that before its aload of Bull.

I've just had a look through the manual and the sample rate isn't mentioned. However I did spot that the ASIO utility has a bit depth setting.

Can you check whether you have it set to 16bit or 24bit.

Damn it lol!
Ive not used the ASIO driver since i downloaded it and ive got it set at 16 bit depth, hopefully it will work for me.
So basically now im using the ASIO driver ive downloaded does it mean that i wont be using the cdj built in soundcard at all?
or is the ASIO just an add on to my cdj soundcard, in confused fellas lol.

How in the world you can alter the soundcard configuration with LE version?
Just asking...

Another "LE" user with that magic sound setup option..... yea..... BUY the damn software and stop PIRATING

I asked this same question, earlier in this post, in a more diplomatic fashion. For some reason, my question was overlooked. I do not know what the situation is, but don't understand how you can use CDJs, with an LE version. I don't use CDJs, so maybe someone that is smarter, can explain.
