Less things to go wrong.
Externals fail sooner than internals do. I don't know why but that's been my experience. Also, it frees up mu usb ports. I don't like using hubs.
Database management is easier.
I can't lose an internal HD. I won't leave it in the club by accident. T don't have to worry about the usb cable messing up or unplugging.

There are a host of reasons to have all my music local.

@ City. When you download music ( Record Pool) Non ITunes website and when you play it on the Mac opening up in ITunes, ITunes makes a second copy and stores it in the ITunes database taking up more HD Space. I disabled that feature and deleted the ITunes database increasing space on my HD.

When I was only using MP3's I also stored the files internally. After I switched to a SSD HD PC (which are still expensive) & MP4's I went externals due to the affordability of large capacity HD's not to mention I have several pc's I use at home from DL'ing and gigging. It was just easier to plug in the HD to any of my PC's and still have that access. Another MAIN reason if one pc goes haywire then I can just simply use another pc without losing any files. The most important thing I think we all can agree on is, make sure all your files are backed up!

HEY BRO I WOULD SAY GET OVER YOUR FEARS AND GET AN EXTERNAL DRIVE VDJ CAN HANDLE IT YOU NEED NOT WORRY.

...if u find "issues" with ur cache size, adjust it....simple as that.....Control panel on PC, on MAC , who cares, right?.....lol.....na, gotta be a similar option. U should b fine......

I have 3 seperate 1.5tb external hd's. I also have 2 seperate 1tb external hd's. I have all my music on my internal hd. I have all my karaoke on my external.

I also run video and all my mp4's are internal.

As I am running out of space on my internal hd, I don't want to have my music split up between my internal and external. It's bad enough that my karaoke is on the external. When I do my karaoke show, I have to plug in the external hard drive. I have it in a case but it still gets bounced around simply by traveling with me to and from the show. Plus wear and tear off plugging in and unplugging all the time.

Having 2tb local on the machine puts all my music, videos and karaoke on the same machine, all with one database with no extra cases or cables.

I can continue to use my externals for backup work.

Are any of the 1.5tb hd available yet? I have had a look and couldn't see any.

If you want more than 2Tb storage capacity, I suggest a Dual HD case. I purchased one of this 3 weeks ago, and mounted two 2Tb HD on it. I setted in Raid mode for 4Tb and exFAT format, compatible with Mac and PC. It is working fine.

There are models with eSata and USB 3.0 connections.

External hard drives have been around for many years, I was referring to internal laptop hard drives with relation to the topic. But thanks anyway

BUMP...

I just don't want to lose this thread.

Check the option "monitor this topic", I believe you will be warned everytime a new post is done.

I believe these 1.5 tb laptop hd's are not yet available. Maybe it was all just a spoof!

I wish that worked.

Still Searching

I have had more issues with the USB 3.0 drives / ports disconnecting due to bass vibration and slight bumps even to USB 2.0 ports drives. I love how fast they are but disconnection issues seem to happen a lot more.
