CloudList --- YAWN!!!!

Do people keep their networking on at a gig? Really?

I guess these people don't understand DPC latency and how networking and WiFi are two processes that really increase the latency and playback problems (crackles, pops, pauses, etc). Now there is another feature that encourages network usage.

Does any body know if the loop bug was addressed?

Well .... yes actually. I have used laptops to DJ with since 1999 and have always had connection to Wifi or Bluetooth modem active with no problems at all. It may have been more of an issue in the past but there is no reason at all to disable networking unless you have a poor spec machine.

Even as far back as 2004 I have had concurrent wifi connections to a remote tablet and the internet at the same time with no issues.

Who said anything about using network/wifi at a gig. I always cache my music first when at home preparing. Then off goes the wifi for the gig. Having said that I often use wifi at home with my rig and never have any latency/sound issues. Guess its down to machine specs and set ups.

Also Premium Membership is also about supporting the many many working DJs that contribute to the community with skins and effects etc.

Yup same as Keith, Wi-Fi always on and never had a problem......... Maybe it's time you upgrade your equipment.......

wifi always on here too, either by wifi network or 4g by my phone. Never a problem

That's what I wanted to know too, but by the looks of the relase notes . . . I'm guessing NOPE!!! And can somebody explain to me what "increased refresh frequency for HID/MIDI controllers" means. Hoping it means that VDJ is no longer locked to 1480 ticks per cycle.

And wi-fi on sometimes and off sometimes. All depends on whether I need a song or video.

I don't use wifi (higher latency on my PC) but I do use a patch cable for my internet access.

Wifi introduces latency issues, its always off on my club rig

Whether your wi-fi introduces excessive DPC latency is down to many things, not least of which are the drivers. Wi-Fi on my gig laptop for example registers barely any difference in DPC latency.

Of course Wi-Fi is only one way of connecting - people could be using mobile broadband dongles or an ethernet connected router for example.

Gotta say. I love VDJ but this has got to be the lamest update in its history.

Posted Wed 03 Oct 12 @ 7:20 pm

Posted Wed 03 Oct 12 @ 7:39 pm
just gonna wait version 8.0

You may think it is a joke, but someone coming in with a brand new controller may not think the same way as you. We all know 8 is coming out and that will be a completetly new animal, but you got what you paid for when you bought VDJ to begin with and all updates up til now have been FREE so what are you complaining about??

Tweeting the tracks I play, as I play 'em (thanks SBDJ) and tagging the club, event etc is great viral marketing...

Yes I do, and I have been through all latency checks. It comes down to the capability of your hardware. I made sure I checked the specs as well as checking the actual hardware before purchasing.

Then I still didn't take it live until was 100% certain it was OK - with and without WiFi etc.

Oh and I run DPC every other month to make sure all is still OK...

Cheers,

Roy

Without my WiFi my latency checker stays low in the green. With WiFi on I get 2 super high red spikes about every minute:(

It's how often the LED's are updated (Refreshed.) For controllers with jogwheel LED's that indicate the disc position, this will result in smoother movement.

You should check the manufacturer's website to see if there are any updated drivers/firmware available.
