Topic: IDJ3 CONFIG PROBLEM - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Hi please help. I am using Windows 7 on a 64 bit Lenovo laptop. I recently bought an IDJ3 and after loading the latest firmware update to the IDJ3, upgrading Virtual DJ to v7.0.3 and still with the latest downloaded Numark x64 2.9.11 driver having loading errors and timing out, here are the latest symptoms of what seems to be a mapping/configuration issue to the volume/cue buttons/sliders.

1. When loading track from IDJ3 to a deck, cue automatically lights and cuts music to that deck, volume lowers on other deck slightly
2. No music output on headphones in cue source switch A/B (ipod and master work fine) - only in Master setting can music be heard from headphones and controlled with cue volume knob
3. When music is playing from A or B decks, volume slider does not work properly (ie playing from master volume only)
4. Pressing A cue or B cue plays track in that deck on master (as volume slider not working). But opposite volume slider works if cue button not pressed (eg music playing in A Cue, B volume slider works and vice versa)
5. Crossfader only 'half' works depending on which cue button is being used - i.e. can't completely fade out the track from the non cued deck and it is still heard at a lower volume.
6. For completeness I checked that all other deck side buttons are working properly:
a. Pitch bend
b. Pitch slider
c. Reverse play
d. Mute keys - bass, mid, high
e. Autoloop
f. Keylock
g. Platter
h. Scratch, sync, cue, play/pause/stutter

Please help resolve this am on Day 4 of setting up my IDJ3.

This means that you have your sound configured incorrectly so that your headphone output is coming out through the master and vice-versa.

Please check your sound configuration is correct:

hi
I USE AN IDJ3 MIXER DECK WITH BASIC VIRTUAL DJ SOFTWARE ON MY WINDOWS XP PC. PLEASE CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO SAVE A PLAYLIST IN THE CORRECT ORDER THAT YOU WANT TO AS THE PLAYLIST LOADS UP IN ITS OWN SEQUENCE - DOESNT SAVE IT - AND I HAVE TO KEEP REPLAYING THE PROGRAM TO GET IT TO MOVE THE TRACKS TO THE CORRECT SEQUENCE I WANT THEM TO BE IN WHICH DOESNT ALWAYS WORK. IVE EVEN TRIED TO GIVE THE TRACKS THE NUMBERS TO WHICH THEY SHOULD PLAY IN SEQUENCE BUT THAT DOESNT WORK EITHER. ALSO WHEN LOADING THE TRACKS UP FROM THE ALBUMS THE VIRTUAL DJ JUST PUTS THEM ANYWHERE AND NOT EVEN IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER ALSO CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THE DIFERENT COLOURED LIGHTS ARE FOR NEXT TO THE TRACKS. THEY START OFF GREEN THEN GO ORANGE THEN GO RED PRESUMBLY THIS IS THE ORDER THAT THE TRACKS ARE BEING LOADED UP. MANY THANKS

VirtualDJ LE (Limited Edition) doesn't support using playlists. Please see: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

If you are currently using the 20 day trial of the full VirtualDJ Pro, then to edit the order of a playlist and/or the songs in it, you will load the playlist, make your changes and then save it again with the same name (It will ask you whether wish to overwrite the old one.)

To be able to use playlists beyond the trial, you will need to upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Pro at a discount: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

NOTE: If you are just browsing and loading songs from their respective folders (Not from an actual playlist that you have previously created and saved), then they will be ordered 'smart' by default (So songs that have played are at the bottom and the rest are ordered by when you last played them.) You can sort it into other orders by clicking on the heading of the appropriate column, e.g: Title to sort alphabetically by song title.

Regarding the coloured icons next to each track, these are explained in the user manual for VirtualDJ along with most other features of the software. Please see the user manual for further details: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/PDFManuals.html

About the skin error you receive on start up...
The latest IDJ3 LE Discs were proved to be faulty (contain a wrong LE version) To resolve this ..
- Perform a clean uninstall of the software http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20perform%20a%20clean%20re-installation%20of%20the%20software.html
- Download and install the LE version from your Download Center.. http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

No drivers are needed to be installed.

About the firmware update (which might not be necessary if you follow the above)..
If your device failed on firmware update, than probably you will have issues to reload it (firmware update may damaged the existing firmware)
Before contacting Numark, take a look at this workaround http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/158331/PC_Version_Technical_Support/Firmware_iDj3_need_help_please_.html

You might have an out-of-date version that does not support the iDJ3. Check the build number in CONFIG -> About and download the latest version from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html

Also, Home FREE will only work for 10 minutes at a time with a MIDI controller connected. The full Pro is required to allow unlimited use the iDJ3 or any other MIDI controller: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

If your iDJ3 came with VirtualDJ, you may be able to upgrade at a discount (Unless it's second hand and the original owner has already used this.)

Also, you could have a MIDI conflict on your system. See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/MIDI%20Controller%20Not%20Working.html and http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/midinotdetected.html

Hello, i recently ordered a idj3 but my laptop doesn't have a CD drive. I have Virtual Dj home free though will the idj3 work with it?

No, Home Free version is not supporting midi controllers. Please see our comparison page .. http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

If the controller you purchased is new, then it will come bundled with a dj software. You can use that, and in case the bundled software is VirtualDJ LE version, then you can also upgrade to Pro Full version at a discount, to get more features than the LE version offers.

If you don't have a CD drive then you can simply download VirtualDJ LE on-line from our website.

To do this, simply register your VirtualDJ LE serial number on your profile page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then download VirtualDJ LE from the Download Center: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

NOTE: If you have no CD drive, you might have a NetBook laptop. If this is the case, make sure that its screen size meets the minimum requirement of 1024x768 for Numark iDJ3: http://www.numark.com/product/idj3

NOTE: If you have a NetBook and your screen isn't big enough, then you can upgrade from VirtualDJ LE to the full Pro at a discount. There are skins available for VirtualDJ Pro that support NetBook screen resolution.

Please don't type your message in ALL CAPS - This is interpreted as 'shouting' and bad etiquette by most Internet users. Please use proper case for your messages. Please read the forum rules.

Advanced options are only applicable if you upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Pro: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

After the 20 day trial of Pro has expired, you can still continue to use it with the limitations of VirtualDJ LE, which is free limited software: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

If it's not working in VirtualDJ LE, then you may have a configuration issue. Please see the following FAQ pages:

http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/iDJ3.html

http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/MIDI%20Controller%20Not%20Working.html

http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Performance%20Issues.html

NOTE: You don't need the original CD - Your serial is already registered to your profile and you can download VirtualDJ LE again at any time from your Download Center: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

If you are using VirtualDJ LE for iDJ3, then this is probably because you are trying to use Pro features of the software such as advanced sound config, another MIDI controller, etc.

These features all require the full VirtualDJ Pro software to be able to use them. VirtualDJ LE is limited software and only supports using the controller that it was included with. If you need these additional full software features, then you can upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Pro at a discount by going to: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Otherwise, if you are only using the iDJ3, try performing a clean re-installation of the software: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20perform%20a%20clean%20re-installation%20of%20the%20software.html
