I think the current version is just great, however I wish to enhance my show in certain areas that can only be done at present by purchasing certain commercially available plugins .... But for the features I want, its an expensive exercise.
Now certain plugin developers have been working on virtual DJ plugins, that do the sort of things i'm after, these plugins have been in development for several years but have not been publicly released, but the developer is now VDJ Staff, so I must wonder weather these privately developed but unreleased plugins have been purchased by VDJ when the developer became staff?
So do I wait and see whats in V8, of lay out extra cash for what may already be Incorporated in the V8 release.

The only commercially available plugins that I am aware of that cost money deal with SMS services. And those plugins are built by people in the business of providing that service. And not to second guess any plugin developers, as I am sure they would agree; that a plugin where the company that knows their service, business, and invests dedicated research and development; will provide more features, better integration. and more timely support to their plugin, than someone building a tool that only uses limited information about the same capability.

Sounds like you need to open a thread in the plug-ins forum and ask SBDJ about the plug-ins you are concerned with.
Yet, you have made a big deal about the release of 8, when all you had to do is ask the 'real' question to the right person.

@ Cstoll,
It's not the difference between pro and not pro but it can be an indication of it. You should be grateful that there are users like me and I know many others (whether they make their voices heard here or not) who are ready to put their money where their mouth is.
There is nothing more frustrating than these cheap DJ's who come here demanding this and that expecting it all for free, it's been said before "Atomix owes you nothing".
Imo Atomix should have a zero tolerance policy towards piracy out of respect for its paid users and its commercial interests, without going into detail I have not seen this in practice even if it's claimed to be the case.
Nobody in the right mind could call VDJ a toy, I'm always putting the haters straight whenever I see a comment arise.

You're right! You haven't seen how piracy is dealt with, because it's something that gets dealt with behind the scenes. There is no reason to make a public spectacle of someone that hacks the software or uses a cracked version.
I'm really not sure what you're trying to imply here

Hi,
VirtualDJ Pro Full users have free lifetime updates as is now. This was given since version 1 and may not change at least for version 8. I can't tell what would be in the future, but all points that this would be like this for all pro full registered users for lifetime.
This is one of VirtualDJ Pro features and it still keep that way, be happy to have a great product that you only have to pay once and get free lifetime support and plugins downloads as well.
There could be many things that could be done, let the Corporate headquarters to deal with it, comments are welcome, but you guys enjoy that is free.

You can name me, it's fine! There has been no purchase of plugins by Atomix, nor would there need to be - all my plugins have been free!
I do have a massive backlog of unfinished plugins that do a wide range of things and believe me I am working my way through that list - and I'm also now being considerate to both platforms which is no small feat when it comes to video plugins.
I guess the plugin you're alluding to would be ScrollText with the SMS feature. The good news is that I released a test version to the beta team about a month ago. I have some feedback and am attempting to fix a few things before another beta release.
If you want SMS then plugins are available now. These plugins cost money, yes, however they are developed by companies - which need to make money. They are also more capable at the SMS side of things.

I don't have a problem with paying weather its for an update or a plugin, in the end it pays
for itself. So maybe the people worrying about things not being free anymore should take a second look at there pricing...........
Just sayin........

Im sure if you want to pay for the upgrade the company will be more then willing to allow you to buy another copy :)

Thats what I've done, like others here ... I've purchased multiple licences to support VDJ but only 1 rig and have no plans to expand to more.
While I realize multiple rigs and employing dj operators is the way to make money, i'm happy just to operate one rig, less money and way less hassle.

Lol - Someone said that making the Virtual DJ 8 update be required to pay to get it, would stop piracy. lol = We can also walk on the sun.

About a year ago, I paid for a VDJ broadcaster license ($50) back then if I wanted to upgrade to the VDJ7 Pro Full version, I only had to pay the difference ($300-50=250). Will it be the same now, in case I wanted to upgrade to a VDJ8 infinity or VDJ8 single controller license? Only pay the difference for it? If not, what is my license good for now?

You can enter your serial number in the Special Launch Offer section HERE
To see what the cost of upgrade to VDJ Inifinity will be. There is no upgrade route to a per-controller license.
The special launch offer is for a limited time only. When this offer finishes you will only be able to use the three options as the top of the BUY page.

Thanks djtouchdan for the info, I checked that, but this upgrade offers the upgrade to the infinity version fo $279 instead of $299. I save only $20 from the $50 I originally paid for the broacaster license. Not fair to me at all!!!!!
Sorry VDJ, great software, but bad software upgrade policies in my opinion. In my case upgrade to VDJ8 won't be free at all... good way to apreciate your old costumers?
I guess I'll wait for the free version and forget about the money I've flushed in the toilet paying for that broadcaster version.

so you are talking about 30 bugs difference to have V8 Infinity...?
Posted Mon 12 May 14 @ 12:22 pm
@RobRoy: 30 bucks? I wish!!!
$279 for V8 infinity upgrade and no V8 single Controller version upgrade option at all.
My main complaint is that i've paid $50 for the VDJ7 broadcaster license and now if I want to upgrade to infinity those $50 worth only $20. Is this is fair?

That has always been the upgrade price for broadcaster, it's not a v8 thing.
You don't always get back what you paid for a product when you trade it in.

With the new licence model you could also rent VDJ for 19$/month.
