Hey man, you mentioned that you were able to transfer all your music from your old laptop to your new laptop including all your set cue points on your songs.. How'd you do that?

I transferred all my music from my old laptop to my new laptop but wasn't able to pull up my set cue points from my old laptop to my new laptop.. Can you explain to me how you did that?

Thx.

You have to copy and move in the database .xml file that was on the original HD, too. If the original HD was the internal C:\ drive and you are moving to another internal C:\ drive, there is no renaming required. But if you move a database copied from a C:\ drive into an ext. HD, the database file will have to be renamed. Can't quite remember the exact file name but someone else should be able to jump in and add info to this post.

Are you talking about the file named, "VirtualDJ Database v6.xml"?

If you are, I went ahead and copied and moved that file to the same Virtual DJ folder on the new laptop but now what?

What's the next step?

Are your copied over files placed in the new computer in the exact same folder name as the old and contain the exact same filepath as the old?
And is all the other info there from the files, like bpm, length, firstseen, etc. , does that show in the new computer?

Unfortunately only some of my mp3's on the new laptop are using the same exact file path as the mp3's on my old laptop and I think this is the reason why I'm not able to find alot of the cue points from the mp3's that are on my old laptop.

Is there a tool available so I can fix this?

How do I do that?

Here's my dilema:

Unfortunately my old laptop was designed to have 2 internal HD's and so I couldn't put all my mp3's on the C drive. I had to use the D drive also.

My new laptop has enough space on the C drive to have all my mp3's on this one this HD.

I think this is the problem I'm encountering and it looks like I have to reset all my cue points for the songs that were on the D drive of my old laptop which totally sucks!

The D drive on my new laptop only has enough space on it to use as the Recovery drive.

On your old laptop move everything to your C drive/music through VDJ in the browser. Then after youve done that move all your music to the C drive/music on the new laptop. Install VDJ and then move that XML from the old laptop and you should be good to go.

But yeah thats why everything is showing up as not scanned, you had some on the D drive on the old and none on the new.

Hope that helps

I don't have enough room or space on the C drive of my old laptop to do this. That's the reason why I had to start using the D drive on my old laptop.

Ok use an external drive and transfer everything through VDJ's browser. Then plug it into the new one and move everything to the C drive/music through VDJ's browser...........

Keep it simple bro, lol!

Ok that didn't work.

It looks like you must have the same exact file path from my old laptop to my new laptop.

Here's what I did:

I only transferred my "50's & 60's" folder that is on the D drive from my old laptop to my external hard drive. (I only did this folder cuz I wanted to just use this folder as the test.)

The exact file path for this folder on the old laptop is: D:\50's & 60's

I then moved the "50's & 60's" folder from my external hard drive to my new laptop onto the C drive where ALL of my mp3's can fit since there is pleny of space on this drive. The D drive for my new laptop only has enough space to be used as Recovery.

The exact file path for the "50's & 60's" folder on my new laptop is: C:\My Music\50's & 60's

I hope this helps. A tutorial video would be great. :)

Did you transfer them inside vdj or did you just open up your music folder then copy them over?? If you did it that then that's the wrong way...........that's why I said inside VDJs browser..........

I did it the way you said to, by using the VDJ browser.

No luck.
