Basically i've been using virtual DJ for quite a while now, and i'm looking into getting a controller to further enhance my experience, and better progress my skills toward becoming a really good dj as i aspire.
What i'm wondering is, can someone reccomend a good value controller that's compatible with virtual DJ 7 FREE.
I have a price range of roughly £200.
Cheers

I have a Hercules RMX and its highly recommended as well and works great with VDJ! Great starter controller as well as the Numark.

The two that caught my eye were:
http://www.djstore.com/item/usbcontrollers/kamdigione.htm
and
http://www.djstore.com/item/usbcontrollers/nummixtrackpro.htm
They both seem pretty decent from what i've read and spoke to people about them, though the mix track pro seems to take my liking a little more, has anyone any experience with either of these?

im not sure on the sound outputs on bothe but as far as im aware they both have 2 phono output and usb connection. the mixtrack has a good reputation, but the downside is it comes packaged with traktor.
the kam comes packeged with VDJ.
so pretty much the catch is, have the better controller (numark) with the worse software (traktor)
or, the worse controller (kam) with the best software (VDJ).
same price. both have downfalls, both pretty much identical controll wise. soo i think its up to you really.
personally i would go for the better controller and buy vdj pro a little later on.

Would my current version of VDJ 7 FREE not be compatible with the better controller?

If your using the Free Home version it'll only work for 10mins at a time. The free version is there so you can test out controllers and features of vdj.

Not sure what you mean, i've recorded 40 min mixes with the free version

Its fully functional without time codes or MIDI controllers. Add those and you'll see you have to purchase the full version to reap the benifits of VDJ.

That's another great controller, you would be able to upgrade but once you register your hardware you will get a great discount for the full version of VDJ Pro. But that controller does not have touch sensitive jog wheels so if you like to scratch go with the Mixtrack Pro. That's not saying you can't scratch with it cause you can but it takes alot of practice.
Hope that helps
Huey
I should add once you get the Pro version your updates will be free, at least they have been since I've had it and that going on like 5 years.......

Really appreciate your help, opened my eyes a little to this.
the version of virtual DJ 7 i would be able to upgrade that VDJ 5 to, would that be suitable for what i want to do, record my own mixes at home, dj house parties with me and my mates, stuff like that.
I'm also hoping to get a little more serious with myself once i'm a bit more confident with my mixing aswell.

Honestly I don't know how that process works cause I went Pro from the start but yeah you could do all of that with that version I believe. Later down the road you could even hook up turntables or cdjs to the Hercules. I haven't got a Mixtrack pro so I can't really say anything about that unit. But I've read nothing but good things about it here on the forums. I'm sure someone will chime in.
Glad I could help and hope to see you as a Registered Pro user soon ;-)

This is a great controller! This is what I started out with using VDJ and it works flawlessly!! One of the best soundcards in any controller even today.

Just thought I would chime in as a proud owner of VDJ & the mixtrack pro...it is a great piece of gear & I can't complain 1 bit....I have heard great things about the RMX but I think my next purchase will be a mixdeck.
