The difference between a "Gentleman's Club" and a strip club?
(No cover charge compared to $20 Dollar Cover Charge)

@ djsherz
Are you saying that during a mix session that includes que'ing up and mixing songs that are cached (i.e., Premium service) that VDJ's Record feature becomes disabled and nonfunctional?

Yup it'll shut off, so if you know your gonna use that track alot its best to buy a copy or use a 3rd party to record.

P.S. I still haven't told my fellow dj's about this service, lol!! Cant give up all the secrets, some things are best kept to yourself, lmao!!

Got to netsearch, type in A. Pugacheva and BAM, a page full of options pop up. I load the track into cache, and mix it into "Porn Star Dancing", and all hell breaks lose.
As, probably, the only Russian DJ on this forum I can't imagine any song by Alla Pugacheva being played in a "Gentleman's Club". Her songs are for old people.

It wouldn't matter if it was for 3 year old children. No-one in the USA or Canada for that matter would know this artist - unless they were from Russia or had an ear for that music.
As long as the girl getting naked liked it - Who cares what it is?
I know a dancer that strips to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. I know another that does a bit with Bert and Ernie hand puppets set to the Sesame Street "Mah-na-man-ah" song.
It's a strip club, it's not the song, it's the naked chick that matters.
And how much she tips me after her show.

@superaceman: Exactly, no hats and no socks with sandals. (Unless you are a German tourist, they get a pass)
@Marcel: I know a "dancer" who will have the DJ spin "It's a small, small world" is she doesn't like the crowd.

@ Beatbreaker1 and anyone else interested,
First off, Beatbreaker, that Numark controller you have looks bad ass. Kudos to you on that.
It looks like the only reason I would go with the premium service then is if I end up working as a resident deejay at an establishment. This feature of the program, Netsearch, would be purely a tool to use for those patrons that make a request for a song that I don't have. Since I can't use the Grooveshark/VDJ Premium hybrid as incorporated into recorded mixes in VDJ since the software will disable the Record setting, it isolates the value of having the Premium service, given my specific needs, to a great resource solely aimed at responding to patrons insistence that you play their song (that you don't have in your legal "ownership" apparatus).
SO, it's just a matter of when I get the Premium feature as dictated by the next offer I get to become a club's resident deejay.
Also, I'm wondering how deep the collection, offering is at Grooveshark. They have "8 million" tracks to choose from. I'm curious how many genres of music Grooveshark covers. If they cover more than just House or Hip-hop (Pop, R&B, Rock, Funk, etc.), their service would be tremendously attractive.
More feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks bro, its only a Numark Mixdeck but hey I love and it gets the job done, lol!
Yeah that would be the best cause then you could kick it back on the club, although there are mobile guys who have the service aswell and just like here it has come through every time.
Not sure about others but I have had a big group of people over and had them through tracks at me just to see how far we could take it. I mean from Jazz, Rock, everything, and well it had 99.9% of everything that was asked. I know I'm only 1 guy but I'm sure others will say the same thing.
Hope that helps

Here's one for the group....
If I have a subscription to the premium service on my desktop where I do all my music organizing (ripping cds, downloading promos from labels, etc) and use this computer to "cache" netsearch and put on an external, can I take that same external to the club's VDJ and use the "cache" IF I use my Netsearch credentials and login using the clubs VDJ?

JayMSY,
yeah I was wondering the same if not similar solution. I mentioned earlier that I need to be able to Cache the music on my external USB drive if possible, and I still don't know if you can do that. If someone here could let us know, it would be a huge determining factor in subscribing to the Premium service.
Beatbreaker1,
That Numark controller is tight. Looks great and appears to be very functional as a better than average controller. I know Numark has made some incredibly jiffy entry level controllers. But that one you have is higher than that mark, which is why I like it.
And on the genres of music Grooveshark has, as you alluded to, Beatbreaker. Damn, if they have that much, then it's a no-brainer. I just hope that the club where I need to utilize has a very stable Internet connection whether wireless or Ethernet. If something Catch 22 were to happen and thus the house network were down or just being flakey, one can always tell the ardent patron making that song request, to tell them the Internet is down, and hopefully they won't bug you.
I'm also thinking of joining an online music pool. I've never applied/signed up for that kind of service.

I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure you can move the cache and just long on the other computer. I'll try tomorrow and let you know what's but I think it'll work honestly. And if you have a smart phone then you always have an internet connection. That's what I do when the venue doesn't have it. I will say that I don't use it when it comes to videos because those are mostly from YouTube and you might have to sort through 3/4 videos before you find a good version. Not saying there isn't any but it could take a minute or 2.
And yeah I love my mixdeck, a few things I wish I could change but I've worked around it so its all good. If your looking for an all in one controller look up Gemini's CDMP-7000. If its as good as they claim it to be that'll be my next setup.
Hope this helps

You can move cached files to another folder if you wish, however they may not be automatically renewed if you do this.
Make sure that you perform the move within VirtualDJ itself so that database information is retained and updated correctly.
If a cached file's DRM expires, it cannot be played until it is renewed with an active Internet connection. This happens automatically for files in the cache folder and you can also right-click on NetSearch to force this. For files in other folders, you would need to browse to the folder, right-click on the file(s) and choose the option to renew them.
NOTE: The default cache folder location cannot currently be changed. This is always in Documents\VirtualDJ\Cache

What port does netsearch use? I would like to keep web browsing (port 80 I believe) closed on the Sonicwall.
