Yes it does to a point but the crossfader isnt mapped, which I need for video crossfade. I also need to change the layout of a few controls. I pm'd the maker but he didnt get back to me.

Crossfader should be easy to add to the definition file, as far as I can see he left it out for some reason.

As for changing the layout of the controls - thats a task left to the end user using the Mappers window. If you need assistance feel free to ask.

He didnt add it because he doesnt use it. I really am stumped on how to do it.

I havent got a clue how to add it myself, the rest I can probably work out how to change stuff.

The user manual is here and has all the midi commands in it on page 25-27

Crossfader is Midi CC5 (left is 0 and right is 127)

This is what I've always maintained: most of djs are not computer programmers so they do not know what CC, note are and they don't care about them.

Do VDJ easier for djs because when I see Registry Tool and the increasing of variables' numbers I am a bit scared.

Totally agree

No-one is forcing anyone to use/create a definition file. You can use the simple midi mapper - you click learn then move the control. Then you can click the skin function button, then click the button on the skin you want it to control. Nothing difficult about that at all - no need to understand MIDI, no need to understand mapping, no need to understand VDJScript.

If you want to create a definition file, then yes you will have to understand how.

Once again though - you do *not* have to create a definition file, you can use the simple midi mapper. All basic funcionality can be mapped without even having to touch a keyboard!

Spoke too soon. Although the wow sound has gone away when I start a song by pressing the start button on my NS7 or use fader start it takes longer for the song to get to speed as compares to 6.0.5 NS7 users try this and see if you get the same results. 6.0.5 the song starts at proper speed.

@drzinc: try to set the PLAY button in your mapper to:

"motorwheel_instant_play on & play_pause"
(without quotes)

With this change the song starts like in vdj 6.0.5. It starts immediately if you press play!

My result for vdj 6.0.8 and the NS/: PERFECT!!! (except the missing MIC support :-)

For some reason I still have v6.0.7 in my download center. How do I update to v6.0.8?

6.0.8 is only available for those with a VDJ license. You have a license for CUE so you'll have to wait for Numark to approve 6.0.8 and release it. Or, you can do what I did awhile back and pay the $50 crossgrade price to get VDJ Pro and get all the software updates right away and not wait months for Numark to release their version.

Thats not entirely accurate, for example my Xone 3d just will not set the jogwheels up correctly without a proper def file. No matter what you do they will only work in one direction and not the other.

If you can help out modifying the Xone 3d def file to include the crossfader as a video crossfade it will be highly appreciated.

Fair enough, having never seen or used the xone in VDJ I've not experienced that. I'm guessing some vendors implement jogs in different manners which is what causes a problem there. Luckily my Ecler EVO5 works perfectly with or without a definition file as you can configure the MIDI encoders to send using different methods :)

Can you not just add:

<slider cc="0x05" name="CROSSFADER"/>

to the definition file, then map it accordingly?

Ok did what you said and although it worked my machine was acting up causing VDJ to become unstable. I remembered my nephiew installed some stuff on my computer so i did a system restore back to a few days ago and then did a fresh install of VDJ 6.0.8 now everything is running as it did in 6.0.5 but the response is now very quick. The platters are more responsive and it makes for better scratching and beat juggling. Will get to try it out live this weekend.

Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VDJScript%20Examples.html for information on how to map jogwheels and endless encoder knobs using Simple MIDI Wrapper.

Has theAmerican Audio DP2 controller mic issue been addressed in this latest release?

Have you looked at the changelog?

Mic support for any controller has not been changed in this release.

That happened to me in the past when I deleted my default skin by mistake. I reinstalled it and everything worked fine. I absolutely love the stability of vdj and versatility. Did a gig last Saturday with 6.07 and it ran flawlessly. Just upgraded to this new version and practiced for hours and no crash whatsoever. I'm glad to see you guys also finally getting the recognition you deserve by wining the WMC Best dj software award. I love you Vdj team. My prayer personally is that you continue pushing the software in various markets and have as many demos as possible with many professional dj's for the rest of this year. Hope to see many more videos from you guys. Bless. Dj Von.

I will give it a go on sunday and report back, should that be all thats need to set the crossfader to video_crossfade?
