That's a really strange one Neil, as I said on the phone (and as Jon has said above) the MC6000 should be plug & play with VDJ.

Hope you get it sorted soon, sorry there's nothing more I can think of to get you going :(

*Hangs head in resigned disbelief*. Me and technology just don't seem to mix. No pun intended.

Neil,

Worst case. Find out if the shop has another unit. Take yours back, try the other unit and see if it is detected. We need to consider the chance that the unit is faulty if no MIDI signal is being generated.

Also try a different USB lead... Worth a shot...

Cheers Keith and Roy.

And thanks Jon for the help.

Talk about deflated. I was very much looking forward to getting up and running after 6 weeks out of the game. : (

Try changing the code to F0 7E 00 06 01 F7

Also, do you get any response when you press buttons such as PLAY, etc. ?

Also, have you installed any custom mappers in My Documents\VirtualDJ\Mappers and/or My Documents\VirtualDJ\Devices that may be conflicting?

Neil,

I take it you don't have another computer to try it on just to work out if it's your gig laptop or the controller that's the problem.

You could also try installing Traktor & see if it works with that. If so then it's a VDJ problem.

I'm off to work now but keep us updated with how you get on.

Jon,

Still the same result with a different code.

The only buttons on the unit that provide any changes are the shift and browse and deck change keys. Nothing that would actually control the music in VDJ is working. None of these buttons light up. Only ones illuminated are deck change and the central control knob underlight.

I have never played with mappers on VDJ.

Buttons won't light up in MIDI trace, but you should see them sending MIDI codes when pressed and released. These should appear in the output window.

If you get no response from most buttons, then you may have a faulty unit, or something may be conflicting with it. If you can, try it on another computer.

For reference, tried it with the supplied Traktor and (although I'm no expert with Traktor) still no response. Every time I tried ot select the unit in the controller manager it reverted back to keyboard.

Can't stick it on the desktop. CD/DVD drive doesn't work! I don't have much hair left to pull out. :/

OK so now we're getting somewhere. Desktop runs it perfectly. All lit up like a Christmas tree and sounding great.

So what could be on my laptop that's conflicting with it, do you think? I haven't got much on it anyway. If anything I removed a few bits because I use it solely for DJing.

It's an ASUS Intel T440 dual core 4GB RAM Windows 7 64 bit.

Add: Well, not perfectly. Can't get sound from deck B and some functions aren't working. But it's progress!

Another add: Got the freeze issue too! Spinning a track back (as the play/pause button doesn't seem to reset it to the beginning of a track with a quick double tap) and the music kept playing but the whole thing froze on me.

OK I've been looking into this aaaaaaaaaaaaaall night.

Guess what? The laptop I bought 3 months ago was an ASUS X5DIJ. It has an X5DIJ sticker on it. It was recommended by a laptop DJ specialist cos it's got all the right components for top DJing use.

For the first time ever I went into the system details of my laptop and....................they've supplied me with an older K5OIJ model. Perhaps this is the source of my plight?

In any case, I've slapped the retailer with a big fat Consumer Credit Act Section 75 email stating I've paid by credit card for one item and they've supplied me with something different, so I'll hopefully get the right laptop!

Nothing I can do will get the MC6000 to respond. : (

What a palava.

Thanks Roy.
We see this all the time and its always (99.9%) a conflict in the computer, not the hardware.
I dont advise getting a new one, he will be back to square one.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the culprit for the MC 6000 not working was my lap top. I tried it on my desktop and voila!! everything works off the bat. I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 lappy, does anyone know if I format the computer would the 6000 work? or should I look at getting a different lappy? Damn this thing is amazing, now gotta get used to it. Thks :)

Hi all,

loving the four deck feature when using the MC6000 - Once you get used to seeing which deck you are on it is very flexible - Thank You.

One wish for the skin is for a colour change in each deck instead of changing the colour of the Left and Right indicators. This would be the icing on the cake for the 4 deck default skin.

Just one minor issue is that there is considerable lag on the main mixers level knobs and it also affects the samples volumes - it does not always follow what the hardware settings are and if you are not careful you will be playing at full volume - ouch!

Oh and the master volume level is not working on the skin.

I have tried this many times and it is very inconsistant.

To over come this I have to "twiddle" each volume slider before pressing play so not to get caught at full volume!

Just a minor niggle

If anyone knows if there is a "mix now" button allocated I would be very greatful as sometimes I ask my roadie to take over while I take a natural break and all they had to do was press the "Mix Now" button if I got delayed.

Apart from that a wonderful piece of development - thank you.

The sound quality of the MC6000 is outstanding!

OK so why is this thing so hard to set up?

Try as I might with all the different settings I can't get two working channels and a cue.

I may get one working channel and nothing else. I may get two working channels but no ability to switch between cue and master, so I've got both deck A & B coming through headphones regardless of where the crossfader is.

This unit is cheesing me right off. How can the basic functions of what it's designed to do bring forth so much chaos? INT MIX, PC MIX, crossfader and midi assigns................how's about a unit that just plays one track though one channel, another track through theother, and you can mix it with the cue and crossfader. Heaven forbid. That seems to easy.

Anybody out there use 2 decks on VDJ with the MC6000 that also uses it for internet broadcast that has actually found a combination that works via advanced sound config?

If so, please post every setup option here from top to bottom, left to right. I've tried following the manual (gobbledegook) and previously posted guides and setup screenshots to no avail.

At least it's sending commands ot my laptop now. Who knows. Might have it sorted by July. Sheesh.

Cheers.

FINALLY!

Seems I was being confused by the setup process of my former VMS4 with this. Think simple, not complex.

Sorted. Pumpin. Loud. Recorded successfully. Ready for net broadcast test. Thanks to all for their input.

Game on.

For simple 2 deck mode I have following:

Advanced config sound setup via Speakers (DNMC6000): deck 1 outputs 1&2, deck 2 outputs 3&4, record loopback inputs 1&2.

MC6000 setup: Ch1 aux, CH2 midi, Ch3 midi, Ch4 aux

Mix mode: Int Mix

Output Source: Rec out/Mic

Crossfader selector switches: Ch2 A, Ch3 B

Be happy! : )
