Topic: 2 Denon HS5500 via Midi

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I know that VDJ supports using a single 5500 with multi layer but i really want to use 2 5500 via midi. Is this in the works?

I haven't tried 2 units at the same time since I only have one 5500 but as long as you don't have both the units on the same midi channel you should be able to use 2 units. Have you tried changing yours midi channel on your 5500? It's found under presets mode Item #28 also make sure you set the unit number Item #29.....see page 34 of the DN-HS 5500 manual for instructions.

::::::Here's what the manual reads on page 34 in regards to your question:::::::::::::::
(28) MIDI CH Set: 1&2* / 3&4 / 5&6 Select the Midi Channel
(29) Unit No Set: 1 to 14 / ALL* Select the device's unit number. For example. if two units of DN-HS5500 are connected to the computer, set one unit to No. 1, the other to No. 2.

So what I gather from reading this is that I would have one 5500 set to midi channel 1&2 with unit number 1 and the 2nd 5500 set to midi channel 3 & 4 with unit number 2....that's just me theory, I would try it out for you but I only have one unit at this time.

It is not supported yet. It will be as soon as possible, maybe in next update. Teamers know about that and it will be fixed. I am waiting for that too as i am just buying 5500 ;)

Xeon,

Thnx for the update. Looking forward to getting this to work with 2 5500 and the spinning platters.
