Topic: LED par cans

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

So how much experience have people had with LED par cans?

I'm thinking of doing a MAJOR purchase of LED lighting (robotic and Light Bars as well) But what I was wondering about is Throw Distance.
The distance I'm going to project is around 24 feet (7.5 Meters) I have the light bars and Robotic LED lights chosen (Check out the New American DJ LED light selection BTW it's absolutely incredible)

Par 64 DMX RGB mixing is what I'm looking for.

Suggestions for best pricing? Post link please
Delivery to CANADA is essential.

Let me know what you guys think.

Hi,
Had 4 Weidamark par 64 RGB lights for 2 years now, love them.
I run them in DMX 400 mode which allows all kinds of control from ramdom to specific desires.
They seem to have climbed a bit in price, I think I spent $130 each for them.

These are white only and I prefer the bare aluminum over painted because we all know how loud aluminum is when paint gets scratched.
They look just as good today as the day I bought them.
My buddy who has the ADJ model says his are not as bright as mine if that helps.
As for throught distance, not sure, I have them up pretty high usually.

Put it this way, you don't want to look straight at them.

Hey Marcel, my friend Brad who is a professional lighting engineer, (has done work for Prince and the Stones for example) loves them. He claims the throw is the same, they run cooler, and last longer. He is also an American DJ lighting distributor and works their gear over real hard. He loves the new LED par cans of all sizes.....hope that helps.....

Hi Marcel,

Greetings from Dartmouth Nova Scotia, home of the Aerobic (accident causing) Hooters girls.

I just purchased 6 ADJ PAR 36 LED light fixtures, a Microh LED Bar II and an ADj REVO III. I

used them at a wedding a couple weeks ago.

The PAR 36 cans have a throw of around 15 - 20 feet. The PAR 64 cans would be too bright,

IMHO, for most smaller gigs and venues. I have found that the Microh Bar, with its 10mm

leds, is far too intense for smaller rooms. I had to aim it towards the ceiling in order to

protect the audience. You cannot dim this fixture when it is running its own patterns or

Sound Sync. I would like to use a couple of PAR 64 lights though for atmosphere use on walls

or pillars.

I control the lights using a Behringer Eurolight LC2412 light board. I have chase patterns

set up and they sync to the beat. I can also raise a slider which over rides the patterns

and triggers the individual Sound Sync on each fixture. This is a great feature. I have

settings for Full On and Off and can trigger the internal programs on the Microh Bar. I am

disappointed that the light bar will not trigger its built in SOund Sync via DMX control.

The specs say it will but it does not. I control the REVO III using the ADJ remote control

unit.

The LED lights are great but they take a lot of work to set up and get going, especially if

you are controlling them via DMX. I hope to upgrade to computer control in the new year.

I just retired my 2 Meteor Sonalite 3000 units that I bought used in 1978. They have been in

service ever since. These are true color organs and there is nothing comparable on the

market today and that is a shame.

Anyway, my 2 cents worth. Have fun and Good Luck!

Personally I LOVE the Acme Visio Par 64's, you use them with a controller called a colour commander, there is also a bar coming out which you can daisy chain in conjunction with the pars, the controller is superb, will try and embed a video here of the visios, they truly are great!

I'll ask Marcel..give me a couple of days..he is on tour with someone right now, I just don't know who....

This thread is over 6years old.

Almost certainly found a solution by now.
