Topic: Rane Serato and VirtualDJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,

I know I am probably gonna slated for not searching this but I have already and it came back with so many different hits that wern't related to my problems I have decided to give up and ask!

I (foolishly) purchased a Serato Scartch Live controller and TCV's - I played around with it for some time but honestly can say I prefer using Virtual DJ.

Now - I am fully aware that VJD is capable of TCV playback and I was wondering, is there a way of configuring VDJ to play thru my Serato Controller and use the Serato TCV's?

I know it's cheeky but I dont want to spend another $300 on the Numark VirtualVinyl controller if my Serato will do the trick!! ;o)

I did give it a whirl by just "plugging and praying" and this seemed to work for like three tracks then the Virtual Vinyl feature seemed to stop working and if I lifted the needle or stopped the deck the track would continue playing!!???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks again guys

Phil

yes, you can...

Select the Serato soundcard as your soundcard, and use Noisemap as timecode engine in timecode settings, to make work with Serato vinyls

:)

i have been usin the serato usb box for about a year with vdj...works smooth, no problems....as far as using the ssl vinyls on vdj's noisemap setting, well i haven't had very solid or reliable results doing that. i really wish that it did work flawlessly as i have been having a hard time finding virtual vinyl replacement records and the vdj records shipping from eu is so expensive.

VDJ vinyls ship from US, for US citizens.. Or you can use Numark VV vinyls from local dj store too (same vinyls as VDJ).

But I've heard good feedbacks about the SSL vinyls with VDJ too, but havent tried it myself unfortunately...

Maybe someone can help you with right settings..... or more info about that

Dont by virtualdj TCV, there shipped from the UK. You are going to receive bended TCV. It already happen to me, they got bended in traveling.

For serato timcodes... You go to time code configuration and click on advanced view. On top of the wave form... ( The Box That shows the wave ) you will see left signal and right signal. next to signal... click where you see " VDJ Timecode (v5) " and set it to Noise Map On left and right side. Now click on Auto Config and a small box will apear and it will say " Noise-Map SSL Detected " using the serato time codes, you should see a nice circle on View 1.

i thought it shoulda been a circle!! mine went square!!lol what does that mean?
thanks

Square is to much input gain.

My GAIN slide is set at the minimum already but still i got a square display. What should i do to make it round, change needle? I use shure M44-7. With TCCD, there's no problem at all.

Are you using using the VV box ? Or a different sound card?

I'm using VV box...

I was wondering about torq and their timecoded vinyls.

I purchased torq conectiv with TCV, and was wondering if it was possible to do teh same thing.

CSTOLL, a big thanks for the above statement, it really helps!!!
I set my VV box input to LINE and whalllaaaa, a full moon like circle came out!!!Set Software RIAA check, auticonfig and got 100% signal all throughout!!! So strange coz my TT-200 has a phono out and in reality i should use phono in also to my VV box but i set it to line and it works perfectly.

I did an endurance test for straight 6.3 hours and the whole hardware and software functioned like a charm in realtime without hitch or delays. No skips, needle drop forward/backward, cue, backspin 1M1 times, scratch/itch or whatever you name it, it never gave me problems of any sort!!! Guess i'm one of the happy VV user now.

Just for the info for the hardware i'm using:
TT-200 x 2
Shure M44-7
VV box
Total control or iCDX

Sorry I didn't respond to your first reply ... but glad it got you to look at the box and you noticed an incorrect setting.

Happy mixin!

I have a BPM rcp-2001-b controller
does anyone know if I can use it on VDJ?
I have barely used it. I would like to use it.
any thoughts?

sorry I did not mean to post to this.
but if you do have an answer I would really appreciate it.
