Topic: RMX & VIDEO STUTTER

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

hello.

thank you for taking the time to read this post.

i am running newest VDJ 5.2.1 Pro with RMX and audio is great. AVI video is stuttering. i have read a thousand posts on what to do, but am hoping for some personalized advice.

system specs:
Microprocessor 2.00 GHz Intel Centrino Processor Technology featuring Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5800
Microprocessor Cache 2 MB L2 Cache
Memory 4096 MB
Memory Max 8192 MB
Video Graphics Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
Video Memory 1759 MB
Hard Drive 320 GB (5400 rpm)

the audio plays but the video stutters using both the full audio video interface and the LE interface.

sound card is set to RMX

CPU usage is maxxing out around 70-80% with some spikes, nowhere near the fulltime spike with 1gb of ram.

config-->performances--> ?

it looks like all of the decoders are legit.

the video runs without stuttering in media player.

any suggestions? please and thank you.

o.k.

so now the .WMV are playing flawlessly but the .AVI are stuttering like crazy.

tried to right click the .AVI to save as .WMV but for some reason the save as... function is not there?

any ideas why the .WMVs are playing and the .AVIs are not?

thanks.

This may be your problem. You need a dedicated graphics card of 256mb ram really to get any good results with video.

And that's probably why your CPU usage is quite high also.

cool thanks jimmy-i appreciate it

what i dont understand is why the .WMVs are playing flawlessly, but the .AVIs are not?

the graphics i have installed has over 1.8gigs of shared video memory?

if all video formats were stuttering that would be a different story, but why one and not the other?

I can't really answer that mate,

maybe WMV files are less demanding on your system than AVI

in the config tab i switched the code for .AVIs to read as windows media.

the video runs smooth but when i go to scratch the screen turns black?

Its prolly a codec issue. What video/audio codecs are the videos encoded with? Maybe try to recode a video to a different codec, see .what happens.

thanks for everyone's input.

i have changed the codec to each possible config.

i was lucky that two of them allowed the .AVIs to play without stuttering.

however, when i go to scratch using a codec that plays .AVIs without stuttering: the screen turns black/blank.

it sucks.
