Hey,

I've been fiddling about with the Virtual DJ software for the past year or so and recently I have been asked to put together a compilation of songs for a basketball club's pre-game warmup. This was all going perfectly until I played the CD (recorded directly from VDJ) on Saturday and encountered a problem. The volumes of the different pieces of music were inconsistent and as such I had to stand by the CD player and adjust the volume accordingly.

I thought the problem was that the songs had been recorded to different volumes when I purchased their original CDs and used MP3Gain to normalise them all. I have since tried to re-record the mix but with the same problem of varying volumes occurring. The club would ideally like to simply press play on the CD and have it running without the need for somebody to adjust the volume of the speakers accordingly.

If anybody could provide any help I would be very greatful.

are you using a bona fide copy ?, if not, get a hold of a trial version it lasts for twenty days and see if that helps with your recording issues. then hopefully in the future club funds will stretch to a full legal copy
 
If I was you I would explain this to the club and expess that it was the fact that you only have a crack or trial version and get a full version out of them.

Now that's what I call a good DJ scam.
 
Guys it is a legit copy.

The problem is that the different pieces of music obviously have differing maximum volumes in terms of different parts of the song and when they are put together these levels once again differ. Is there something in the gain that I should be toying with to try and get better results?
 
mark why dont you register it in your download centre, you will then have access to a lot more goodies to play with from the plug in centre not to mention the free updates of the software.
 
Where do I find my serial number?

Bearing in mind I've had the software for a while and likelihood is that I deleted any correspondence emails
 
that been the case you will have to put a ticket in and explain your situation and try and give them as much information regarding your purchase as possible, date purchased, card number, name on card etc, records are kept going back as far as the flood and noah, they are kept rather busy at most times so you may have to be patient for a reply,

I would also consider looking at the bitrate of the tracks, i.e 128 kbps vs. 320 kbps. And also whether they are VBR or CBR (bit rate). I know that esp the kbps plays a factor when I play tracks. Oh and also if tracks had undergone some sort of compression or effect when being recorded?? These things tend to have more of an effect on the quality rather than volume, but I'm def not an expert so, um, not sure if I helped or hindered there, I'll just go back to rocking in the corner.
