Topic: audio tag question

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

For tagging, I use emusic tag editor. I'm pretty anal about my tags, and often do research to determine year of release. However with many 80s dance tracks (for example), I sometimes don't find good chart information to indicate the actual year of release. In those cases, I'll put 198z as the year. Virtual D.J. reads it as: 0198. Is there a way to make these titles come up in a search better, in a way more related to the 1980s, versus the year 198?

Put the info in the Genre and separate each Genre entry with a semi-colon (;)
This way you can also take advantage of the Genre tree in VirtualDJ. And you can still search for those items, just make sure the Genre field is selected as one of the search fields - (1st bullseye symbol to the right of the search box)
