Topic: LOOP PROBLEM

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

HI ALL I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH VDJ, EVERYTIME I RAISE THE LOOP (ORIGINALLY ON 16 FOR EXAMPLE), IT DOES IT OKAY, EVERYTIME I LOWER IT (PROOBLEM) ITY SHOWS A QUESTION MARK WHERE THE NUMBER OF BEATS SHOULD BE AND LOOPS 1.
IF I MOVE THE LOOPS BACK UP (MOREBPM TO LOOP EG. FROM 4 TO 8)- IT GOES BACK TO WHERE IT WAS ORIGINALLLY SO TO GET A SPECIFIC BEAT REPEAT I WOULD HAVE TO LOWER IT (AUTO ? SIGN AND ITS 1 BEAT) AND QUICKLY RAISE IT UP TO WHAT I WANT, WHATS GOING ON HERE? CAN SOMETHING BE DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?

I HAVE UNINSTALLED AND INSTALLED AGAIN THINKING IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT DOESNT FIX IT, STILL THE SAME

Knock your caps lock off when posting. It look's like you are SHOUTING!

Your problem could be a number of things, can you let me know which skin you are using, if you are using a controller, and are you using a mouse or keyboard shortcuts to change loop lengths?

I will soon be switching from PCDJ to Virtual DJ. How many PC's can I install this on? I was told by another user I could purchase a 'Multiple Use' license and install on many PC's but I find no mention of this anywhere...is this an option?

This is the EULA summary

Quote :

-This license gives you the right to install and use the software on a maximum of two computers, by one person.

- It does not give you the right to rent or sell computer systems on which the software is installed, or to rent or sell the software or part of it.

- The software is distributed "as-is" and no warranty of any kind is expressed.

- Atomix Productions and its suppliers retain all intellectual property rights in the software.

As for the 'Multiple Use' license , I don't think there is none.

im just using the default skin, and using the classic mouse which does the job just fine.
Im wondering what is the problem and how can i fix if i can fix it.

Think I've got what you are on about, in the basic skin, it displays the loop length with the increment/decrement arrows each side, and then the buttons for loop in and loop out below these with the smart loop icon (padlock) next to these.

Basically how this functions is you hit loop in, which marks the start point of the loop, and then you hit loop out at the end of the piece you want to loop and is will take the time between the in and out and form a loop out of this.

If you switch smart loop on, it will assume that if you hit the outpoint of the loop, you want to match this to the nearest number of beats you have left in between the start and when you hit the loop out, eg 1,2,4,8,16,32 beats. If you are now in a loop and use the inc/dec arrows it will half or double the current loop length.

Now once you have the loop set to say 4 beats, and you want to start a loop, don't press the loop in, instead actually click on the drop down box that's displaying the loop length. It will now enter a loop of however many bars this is set to.

It's slightly confusing the way it works, I'd advise that you switch to using the full mixer skin as this displays all the standard loop length with a little activate button above each which allows you to just click the button and immediately enter a loop of that length.

Hope this helps.

i havent got loop in loop out buttons
what ive got is i am using the default skin
the one im using is the beatmatch and the loop square buttons in the same line as the play etc.

im wondering why i have this problem in particular as ive been using VDJ fro several years now, and this had not happened before, i am using Windows Vista, and it has worked fine, this problem started at the start of last week.

I'm confused, so into the setup options into the skin tab and let me know the full name of the skin you are using?

Also what version of VDJ are you using

Cheers
