Topic: How does this dj do it?

Hey guys. Ive been mixing hardstyle for about a month, and i was watching a video of a guy, and i really liked something he did. Heres the video link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JfsKanwKwo . At 1:30 he does something with whatever that is above his mixer, and it sounds hot. I thought maybe it was a loop, but i cannont recreate it with a loop. Any1 know any of the following
1. What it is called that he is doing?
2. What that hardware is?
3. Is there an effect for Virtual DJ that i can use to make that sound

Any help would be greatly appreciated, im getting sick of just using beat grid and flanger


EDIT: Did some research, its an efx-1000.

There you go Fault, makes it easier to see :)

 
this is a loop to re create just make a 1/8th loop and keep moving it down making the loop closer and closer. he is using a midi hardware to recreate but you can use vdj and just press down to make that loop closer hope i helped

See i tried that but it just doesnt sound as clean at all. Also 1/8 is as small as it goes
