I have been approached by a friend to do a karaoke party for him. I have NEVER done karaoke before. I really want to be prepared and make sure I am able to do it before i commit.
MY question is where do I download karaoke music? Can i do karaoke with VDJ 5 and my RMX?
Is there any thing else that I need to know? Does anyone have any tips for newbie?
Thanks in advance!

Don't know about karaoke with the RMX, but I've used VDJ for karaoke and it worked fine for me. You can download karaoke tracks at this link.

I haven't tried this software, but it claims to remove vocals from your MP3's. You can find it at this link.

As for tips for a karaoke show, the #1 thing is patience. The more drunk people get, the more obnoxious they become with the mic. Especially if you have a heavy metal wanna be singer screaming into the mic. They drop the mic's, blow into them, beat there hands on them like it's a tambourine. Fun stuff, lol! With all this being said, I would use a mic that is durable, but inexpensive. You don't want people treating your Sennheiser like a Mr. Microphone. It's also a good idea to have tracks in the cue to play between singers. It kills the dead air between singers, and keeps the energy up. This is especially helpful if you have a bunch of singers that sing ballads. It also keeps the non-singers happy to hear music they enjoy. Good luck!
