This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Well you can now... for SOME videos...

YouTube have secretly added HD flash definiton to some of their videos

You can see if a video also have a HD stream by adding "&fmt=6" (BEST) or "&fmt=18" (GOOD) after the url in youtube

example :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCdijIiOq14&fmt=6

Just get latest Real Player version 11, and it will give you option when you watch Youtube (or anything on the net) to save ;)

Looks good but where and how do you save? Do you need the 'plus' package of real player or is the basic one adequate?

Cheers.

Post the whole full URL from YouTube there, and you'll get the choice of downloading the SWF (flash) low-quality file, or the full quality mp4 file ;)

Yeah I've got that thanks, it's the saving from Real 11 I can't work out.

No, its fully legal. YouTube (Google) pay a LOT of money to the record companies to allow it.

Google has now secured music-license rights with the world’s four largest music labels: Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and EMI Group.

Thanks for info ;)
Is this HD quality enough for playing on video beam?

What is video beam?

Its HD video, so its good enough for resolutions up to normal HD tv screens (and projectors).... '

It might not be all good for FULL HD, but very few have full HD tvs or projectors anyway ;)

Its a little bit less than DVD quality, but not much :)

I meant Projector, we call it video beam here also ;)
Thanks for info, might be the time to go video :)

i like the tricks for getting videos especially for eighties stuff cause it didnt look so sharp anyway, but 8thwonderpromos.com has mp4s with great audio n sound for 10 bucks a month. every genre. u cant beat that
