Topic: External HD not recognized on new vista laptop

hello, i just purchased a new laptop w/ vista ultimate. i have a 500 gb western digital external and it was workin fine earlier on my xp cpu. allowed me to open folders, copy etc. however its not allowin me to do anything on vista computer. it keeps sayin "you need permission to do this"/ Please help me

Simply turn off UAC

Go to Control Panel, Users>UAC (User account Control), disable and restart.
 
Hm, I didn't know that UAC is doing that? Although, I disable it first thing upon installing Vista ;) It is pain in the *ss
