Topic: show the tracks that have NOT been bpm scanned

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

This is a dumb question for a person who has been using VirtualDJ since 1.x but still I have to ask...

Is there a way to sort the record case so I can show just the tracks that have NOT been BPM scanned? Assume I right click on a folder with 40 sub folders, recurse. Some tracks have yellow questions mark, some do not. If they were all in the same flat folder list, this would be easy, I would just sort the list and be done. When the tracks are in sub folders, it complicates things.

I want all the un scanned tracks at the top or bottom so I can select them and let them scan overnight.

I am in the same boat!

Was doing this last night but its a pain.

I think the best thing to do is make another folder and move all the music there and move it back to where you want it when your done.

I hope thee is any easier way.

Easy, recurse the folder, then at the top, click the 'bpm' tab

Also, you can make a virtual folder that will ONLY show unscanned tracks, I could be corrected on this but I think the filter is 'isscanned=0'

The virtual folder is the right option, but its BPM=0 that will show all the unscanned files in your library

isscanned=0 is the correct filter option. And Filter folders only work with files that have been added to the Search Database.

More info is available in the manual.

I think there is.
I actually found this quite interesting I haven't seen anything like it.....Click on the bpm tab in the first folder...scroll to the last calculated bpm then...shift+ down arrow to the end( select all).....then do the same in the remaining folders/subfolders , click calculate whatever your engine is selected to and go to bed....when you wake up everything should be done so long as you don't have any corrupt files..Then from there do the whole database add nonsense and save the xml file and you good to go.

Wow, that is quite a bit of instructions. For a year now I use the isscan=0 and isscan=1.... whatever is in that folder for missed scans then just highlight and scan. In config, put add to databasa automatically.

ok -- here we go ---

1. As suggested by fatkatzdj - Go to Config -> Browser -> Set Add to Database to Automatically
2. Recurse you entire music drive library (if you have multiple drives do this for each drive)
--- Upon recursing each drive, what ever track was not part of the search database will be add because of step 1
3. Create a filter folder that uses a filter of isscanned=0
4. Select the New filter folder to reveal the tracks that have yet to be scanned.

In the future when adding new tracks you only need to do steps 2 and 4.

To analyze the tracks --

Select in the center browser (left click 1 time)
Ctr+A - to select all
Right-click any highlighted track and choose the appropriate BPM Analyze method.

I may be wrong, but I think this may be the quickest way;

1. Enter * (an asterisk) in the SEARCH field (this brings up ALL your tracks).

2. Click on the BPM tab (all of your un-scanned tracks will be either at the Top/Bottom)

3. Highlight all of the un-scanned tracks and Click on Analyze.

4. Go to sleep while VDJ does the analyzing.

Only works if all of your tracks are part of your search database.

That wont work!! I BPM my files with Mixmeister so they all have BPM'S

--> IDEA to Atomix Productions: add a playlist on the left called 'Unscanned Tracks' that shows all tracks that have not been scanned. User can click on that folder, select all, then scan.

I will muck around with isscanned=0 filter

WirelessDJ;

I don't use any other mixing program or alike, so this may ba a silly question.

I use to BPM all my tracks with Mixmeister as soon as I ripped them, but quickly figured out VDJ will re-do the BPM's whether I want it to or not.

Is there a specific reason you pre-BPM all your tracks before placing them into your VDJ database?

It already exists -- it is the Filter Folder as described.

>It already exists -- it is the Filter Folder as described.
Agreed. But it does not show up automatically and was not that intuitive to add. Why not consider having it as a default filter?

Yes! I own three Numark D2's. Lovely little (discontinued) units. I simply plug in a 32GB flash drive...

...and I am good to go with no bootup time, no heavy laptop to lug around, no chance of crashing. I use them as a backup when I am not using my PC rig and/or when ever I feel like traveling light

So.... The D2 reads the BPM that mixmesiter writes into the tag.

I use FILE browser a lot with the D2 which is why I also rename my tags as follows... (BPM, Title - Artist)

100.00, BADD - YING YANG TWINS F. MIKE JONES.MP3
100.00, SHAKE IT (ASV REMIX) TYAJAYZE - ASV REMIX.MP3
100.04, NAUGHTY GIRL - BEYONCE.MP3
100.82, GET IT POPPIN (FUNKYMIX) - FAT JOE & NELLY.MP3
etc.

Then I just pop in and out of folders all night. Also using the search by title, artist, or BPM range

It's too bad Numark quality is inferior to Denon HC4500, this is why I have THREE of them! One for use at the club, one in the car, and one is always in the shop for repair :-(

Here is my 2nd PC based rig...
