Topic: Help needed........wont play my tunes!!!!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

hello, first post here and i need some help.

been using vdj for a few weeks and have just encountered my first problem.....aaarrrggghhh!!!!

here is the full story:

i took a bunch of cds and ripped them onto my portable harddrive through my pc

i did not name them therefore they are all called track01,track01(1), track01(2) etc......

i took my hardrive from my pc to my laptop (which i use vdj on)

pluged it in and then tried to drag the files to the deck for a mix up session

it would not play thsese files (they are all wav's btw)

i thought i might have something to with duplicate entries, so i renamed the tunes to the proper names.

i now have no dupilcate entries.

but still it will not play them.

i double checked that nothing went wrong while ripping and all the tunes play fine on mediamonkey, windows media player, itunes and various other random programs that i have.

help me please!!!!!! vdj clearly has its nickers in a twist!!!!

thanks
V R

is there a way perhaps to clear the playlist/libary memory (or somehting like that) of vdj???

may be thats the problem???

*also just to add, the vinyl symbol on the left of each track in vdj is showing a yellow question mark.

Sorry forgot to mention that i am using the Virtual DJ home edition version 3.4

Which might i add i was quite annoyed to find out is 2 years old, but i only bought it a few weeks ago from a shop in switzerland!!!

I can't say if you have a legitimate copy or not, but the yellow symbol means the tracks have not mean analyzed. Rt click a track, bpm, select analyze. Load in a player and see if it plays. Do you have the sound card settings correct? Using a internal/external mixer? Are the faders up?

i do have a legit copy, i cant cant go upstairs and wake everyone up going threw my boxes looking for the product key, i will do that tommorrow :)

i tried analyzing it but no luck, it does nothing.

sound card - i have no clue, but why would everything else work and not these tunes??? also the meathod explained in my first post i have done loads of times and it worked okay!!

mixer = internal

lol yes the faders are up, it wont load to the deck at all, vdj says 'imposibble to open.......xtunex.........with wav decoder'

i have in the mean time downloaded the demo of the latest version from the sticky on this forum, and all the tunes play fine....but this lasts only 20 days so really want to sortmy problem out

thanks again!!!

I entered my key, only woke 1 person up LOL!!

This may be obvious, but thought I'd mention it.

The tracks that do play in other players (media player): Are they the ones from the External Hard Drive? Or are they the ones you tried to drag?

I ask because in the process of you "dragging" the tracks from the External HD, you may have only dragged "shortcuts" and left the actual tracks behind.

Make sure that the files you are trying to play match the file size of the original.

Thanks, yes the tracks that work and the ones that dont are all on an external hd in folders under genre.

I have no shortcuts.

I drag the tunes from the same place when using the vdj5 demo as i do on my vdj3.4

It seems weird that all the tunes will play on any music player that i have as well as the VDJ5 demo that i downloaded last night.

It is only the tunes that i ripped yesterday that will not play on my vdj3.4

Anymore suggestions more than welcome not matter how obvious!!! my demo of vdj 5 runs out in 19 days!!! aaarrgghh!!

thanks

Anyone???

:(

You should recurse your folder to illiminate old named tracks. If you click to analyse and nothing happens then that file is not in the location where is last was, or it has been renamed.
(probably)

Nope, thanks anyway.....

Looks like noone can help.......oh well thats £50 wasted.

Unless someone can help me , I think i will stick to vinyl.........never wanted to join the digital age anyway.
