Topic: Ripn' PO video mix??

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Some of my Promo Only DVDs has a couple of mix set of 3 or more songs at the end of it. The problem is when i Rip the DVD it's broken into chapters. So my questions is how do I Rip the DVD and keep the video set together so I can play the entire mix set without it stopping.
Thanks For looking.

i use dvddecrypter. set it to IFO mode, and you see all the chapters.
Then scroll the chapters list down to the ones you want to rip.
right click and select 'hilight none'
then tick the ones you want. (eg. chp 40, 41, 42, 42, 44)

then filnaly, in the top right pane, right click on the dvd scructure and change file splitting to none.

this will rip the chosen chapters and write them to one file.

in my experience, you can only do one mix at a time.

this is also what i do with the other songs.
Some have intros of a few seconds.
I rip them with the above method one by one, then in virtualdj i play the intro and cue the beats to match the previous song.
eg. Eric Pryz - call on me. It has an intro where the girl walks in and puts the stereo on the floor then presses play.. then the beat starts. i keep all this, and play the intro on screen. by the time she presses play, the beat is synced with the previous track (for this i use vdj cuepoints (ie. cue 1, 1st frame, cue2, beat start)

Best way to rip dvds, is use vob blanker. You can extract cells, and some videos are mutliple cells so you can extract them as one. What I also do with some of the PO is when they have powersets, I will extract all 3 songs as 1. So this gives you time when out at club to use the pisser or take a break.
Now when you rip the cells and towards the end they start mixing in the next song you can also set up cue points.

Something else you can do is just grab the club/hot video mix series. PO doesnt mix the videos on these DVDS

Thanks I tried the DVD decryptor way it and it works great. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to name it. :) Man ripping one at a time is painfull. Oh well its better than having it split apart. I'll try the vob blanker next.

I find Smart Ripper to have a lot of flexibily regarding chapter splitting / grouping.

Hi, there's another thread at the moment about playing tracks off mixed CDs all in a row- and we found out how to play them in VDJ without having to rip the whole CD as one long track.

If your video mix is split up song by song, then you can put all the parts in the playlist window and play them using the "automix" function. The trick is to select the "automix type" option of "none (back to back)". Then the video mix should play seamlessly in VDJ (havn't tried it because I don't have any pre-mixed video sets), and ripping the DVD is alot quicker because you don't have to start messing around with putting different chapters together and doing it one at a time. If it was me, I'd name the files something like "Pussycat Dolls- RnB Powerset Part 01 (Don't Cha).vob" so you can find everything easily and the parts will come up in the right order when you sort by title name.

It'd be interesting to know if that works with videos as well as audio, so if anyone tries it, will you post here if it works

when he says above 'have to do it one by one' he means that if the dvd has 2 powersets, you have to do the 5 chapters for the 1st powerset first, then name the file. then do the next powerset (5 chapters).

DVDDecrypter will make 1 file usind this method, insted of 5 seperate parts.

automixing them together didnt work for me. and sometimes you wanna play the proper version of the given track, but the powerset version gets in the way get played insted (!!!?!!)

i have my PO's in folders so for example, in January there was a Freemasons powerset spanning the usual 5 chapters. ive got it as
POCV-2008-01\Freemasons - Powerset.vob

some of the powersets have 3 different artists, for these i use VA (for Various Artists)

then to jump to the different parts of the powerset, i use cue points, i lable them. however the search wont search for cue point names, so i add some of the listing into the comment.

The automixing didn't work for me also. Naming it was my dilemma also. I like the way your doing it. I think I'll just rip it two ways with it separate and together . Thanks again for all your guys great information.

oh, i forgot that you cant put a backslash on this forum.

above should read POCV200801/Freemasons - Powerset.VOB

and change / into a backslash.
