Well thanks to some of the very helpful people on this forum I have ordered a new laptop. I got all of the recommended specs on it so it should be like "Grease lightening" 2.6 ghz processor 4 gb RAM and a great video card.
After I receive it what should I remove from it as far as software and or change settings???????
I know you have to change sleep settings and power settings to never power down but what elase is important.
This laptop will only be used for DJing. I download songs from Amazon so I will occasionally go online at an event pick up a random song.
I also purchased a Denon DNhd 2500 and I am very excited to start using that. Any feedback on that would be greatly apprecitaed..or I may start a new thread on it.
You guys rock!!! Thank you and Happy Easter!!!

One of the most important things I've found for going online with my dell (and in theory any gig computer) is to use Mcaffee firewall instead of norton (norton hogs up resources) and to turn your antivirus/ firewall auto updates as well as all auto updates off. Also you may want to go into internet settings and turn off the click sound when surfing the web. I can't speak for other things to tweak for video and such, but with those settings on my system I haven't had a single problem downloading (mostly from napster) while using VDJ;^]

Your laptop should be ok I think tweeks were needed only when we were using low spec macines. My Dell runs great. 4GB 256MB 2.2GHz Vista

to elaborate, i even turn off the services themselves (in regards to virus scan) so literally the only thing running is my operating system, audio/video drivers, and virtualdj
don't have as powerful a system as you (only 2 gigs ram) and im going flawless with a dell e1505 and esi u46dj with timecodes and full video support.
