Topic: time code cd's conclusion - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Hi,

I would like to thank everyone who helped try to solve my time code problem.

Here is my cunclusion after extensive testing.

Time code cd's work but not well enough to use on a day to day basis.

The problem is when you start a song, there is a short pause followed by a slight glitch sound before the song starts playing.
I followed all of the suggestions that were given to me and tried on several pc's with trial versions and one pc with the full version and got the same result. I also tried it with different cd players with the same result. I tested it with the maya 44 usb sound card. I selected auto latency in the settings and perfomence set to fastest.I also muted my inptus on my sound card.

The funny part is i have tired it serveral times in the past on various trial versions and the result was exactly the same.

I wanted to buy time codes vinyl but i have put it off since i am affraid it will do the same.

I want to buy the full version but not until i am sure that the software works perfectly.

I don't think every pc i have tried has hardware conflicts.

Hopefully there will be an update that will make time code work perfectly as i am quite sure it is a software problem.

I also read on the forums that time code suffers from stability.

If anybody has anything to add please do so or something to shed some light.

Thanks

That "glitch sound" , is that an audio buffer from previous played song?
Sounds like a latency issue to me.

Did you check UltraLatency at VDJ soundcard setting page? And try adjusting asio latency/buffer in maya control pannel to somewhat lower

I know you're frustrated by the way, I know you've been trying hard.

As a cheer up, I'd like you to know that CDJs and timecode can work absolutely flawless.. Mine dont have any issues like you say.
And superstar djs such as Dennis Ferrer and Coldcut uses CDJs with timecodes and VDJ, all around the world in front of thousands...

so it CAN work great, thats for sure...

But VDJ is a bit of a pain at times, as there are tweaks, settings, and stuff to get right.
Guess thats the drawback of supporting any soundcard, any hardware, and not exclude all but one soundcard (as Serato does).

no it's not from a previous song because it does that right from the time i first load vdj.

i have tried the ultra low latency and i have tried different settings in the control panel of my sound card

Still the same problem.

Could you post a screenshot of your hardware device manager, in Windows.

USB is super sensitive to drop outs, if it share IRQ settings. But since you said you had this problem on several pcs, it might not be it.

Also, try both of this :

1) Latest asio drivers for the maya (make sure its the absolutely latest, as previous versions arent good)
2) Try the generic asio drivers, that works great with maya ( http://www.asio4all.com )

how do i post a screen shot

Press the Print Screen button on your keyboard (Prt Scr)

Open Paint, or other photo/paint program, and press CTRL+V (paste)

And save it as a JPEG image:)

Upload it here : http://www.tinypic.com

And post the URL you get, here...

looking at it..i think its a soundcard conflict.... theres creative and realtek ac97 running...go to ur device manager and got to view and go to resources by type and go to IRQ and look if anything is the same number...that should be your problem

check out this blog too..(thnx to sky)that should help.

djreaper

would disabling them help ?

Funny though my other pc does not have any other sounds cards on iy and has the same problem.

the irq is different for both

ok so all the irq are DIFFERENT..good..hmm..which of the soundcards u dont need..uninstall it and keep the one that u use ..

removed all other soundcards but still the same problem.

What a bummer, it don't think it will ever work. Sorry to be so negative

That screenshot was almost what I needed...
Can you please do to it again, but this time sort by resources

In the Hardware Device manager, choose at top menu
VIEW >> Resources by connection (4th from top, sorry if wrong wording, got Norwegian Windows)
And then, press the PLUS sign next to IRQ, so you show all IRQ connections

That screenshot will show what IRQs and potential conflicts you have

told him already runey..im faster than u ehehhehe..jokin yes i would like to see the irq pic too...

btw, what CD players are you using?

btw:i am using denon dn2000f mk2

IRQ 21...what other controller is hooked up to vdj?

no controller

Your IRQ's are perfect...
So thats not it, unless you SHARE your usb port that maya uses, with other USB devices
