Hey Mac users,
Do you use Mac Book pro or regular Mac book for your Virtual Dj? Which is better for those who have used both?
THanks!

Macbook Pro Is Ideal If you are a Virtual DJ VJ meaning If you are mixing videos, but If you are mixing audio only Macbook Is perfect for that kind of usage.

I even do some video mixing with my Macbook, but I would not recommend It for heavy duty video mixing.

I hope to get a Macbook Pro In the future too!

A mac is an investment it will last many years , the higher spec you get really the better.

I bought the 2.2ghz 15" macbook pro around november last year and i can honestly say it's the best computer equipment i have ever used and you just don't need anything else now because they run windows too.

Steve. :)

i was running on a student budget and i new i wanted to start laptop dj'ing
i had never used a mac platform before and took the gamble and it payed off so well!
It hardly ever runs into problems and when it does it settles them almost immedialey, it feels more proffesional and the layout is incredible. It looks cooler then anything else too especially if you get a case!
I use my mac for everything now and with 2 gigs of ram its my prize possesion, never realy been into computers much before but after investing in the macbook i find technical aspects of computing much easier to handle and as for DJ'ing its brilliant!
I DJ psytrance / Minimal Tech. & also have an electro house set for parties and i have dj'd two major events already (over 100 people :-P) with the help of the macbook + VDJ + Hercules MK2 and each one went down realy well. I have recently been on a pro too and the same goes for that, i would of prefered a pro as they seem much more durable but my budget wouldnt allow.
Once you have had mac you will never go back

i'm on a 17" macbook pro...yea it was expensive but let me tell ya....WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY!! Just not to get the famous windows blue screen of death is
worth 3k. I've had this mbp for a year and half...haven't touch my pc in that length of time LOL..only locked up a couple of times but that is vdj related bug. If you can swing it (or even if you have to stretch) get the macbook pro...better to grow into the book than to not have enough. I do audio and video so I wanted to make sure I had enough...i have more than enough...also have a little macbook...i can really tell the difference in performance as far as vdj(cue) goes.

Boy, can I say I'm with you guys on this. For the last 2 weeks I have been beating my head against a brick wall trying to get VDJ5 working correctly with Windows Vista and was just plagued with issues. I dusted off the PowerMac G5 and things for the most part just worked (things 'just working' is pretty much normal for the Mac). Now all we need is a skin that conforms to the OS-X interface specification and I think I'd be in heaven. I'm going to be taking this rig on the road once I build or buy a decent road-case for it, right now all my DJ work is internet based.

Take care!

hello,

i was just wondering how you would use virtual dj with a macbook pro. do you need an additional soundcard or can you run it off the built-in card? does this mean you will only line out in mono as the other channel will be used to cue the next songs?

thanks,

karen

Hi,

So I've been trying to get serious with dj-ing and im considering to change from PC to mac (my pc's specs are really bad for dj-ing). From reading the previous posts from this topic, I think I'm going for the new 13' macbook pro. I dont know too much about the differnt O.S systems, so I was wondering if anyone here can help me out with the different types of systems, and which would be the most compatible system for virtual dj ?

Thanks guys!

Cheers,
Marcus

I had that issue once, I uninstalled the program, deleted the virtual dj folder that resides in ur document folder then reinstalled and it worked. Not sure if that was the proper work around but it worked for me.

You can buy a used MBP to save you some money. you can get one for about a third of what a new one would cost you. Just an FYI for you.
