I have done the searches, and perhaps I am JUST not finding the right search time. And, I should preface this, I have read the manual too. I want some more information auto mix. I understand that there are some choices in regards to choosing seconds for fade in/out, etc. and the smart fade. What I want to know if how do I manually set up points for my tracks for the fade in and out so that they are all right where they need to be?
The other question is - if I can't set points, how do I set rules for each track individually, meaning if I can pick 1, 2, or 4 seconds for the whole automix in general, can I choose a different amount of time for each track and save that information with the song file so that it always occurs?
Sorry if these questions have already been answered - I can't seem to find the EXACT information on how to do this - although some have alluded to it on various threads. I think they are saying they manual set for each song, but I can't seem to figure this out?

You can edit individual tracks by using the "BPM" button above the deck, under the "automix" tab. You'll see the options there.

ok - got that - I was reading the new feature manual, and not the actual manual.
So, here is my next idiot type of question - because I feel it should be much more simple than this. I am using that to edit entry and exit points, I hit save, and I see the cue flags where I set it. Then when it's actually in the automix - it doesn't seem to be using those points, which is really getting frustrating because I can't figure out why not? I have it set to SMART, so not sure what the issue is. But it is clearly not using the points that I have set up.
Having experience with various softwares, I do have experience of working with software programs - so I am not sure if this process is just not intuitive, or if there is some kind of problem, bug, etc.. I haven't seen that problem in any searches - I am using the Mac version....it appears to be working fine, just can't figure out the auto mix points....

Next time you reload the song the cue flags will go were you previously set them.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I have the intro and outro points set on the track, I engage automix, and automix is not following the intro and outro points that I have set on each track. Can anyone help explain if I am doing something wrong? I seem to have followed the directions, the only thing I wasn't clear on was what to leave the general automix settings at if I want it to utilize my preset intro and outro fade points. However, the manual seems to indicate that you can leave it on smart and that would be fine.
I am using the Mac version, not sure if there is a difference.

If you have set up "fade ientry / exit" points, don't use SMART mode, use fade (experiment with them). SMART is for when you have set up mix tempo entry / exit points and "allow"ed mix tempo on both songs. Fade will use your manual settings. You might have to play with the fade length parameter a bit; try 4 - 8 sec. to start.

Thanks for the info. Still no go. It appears that my entry/exit points are not being saved with the file (on Mac 5.0.7). I feel like I have tried everything out there, read a ton of threads, and still it's not working correctly. I think that if I set entry/exit points, the white flag would remain visible on the track. Once I push save, and the BPM window closes, the white flags on the track disappear. So, I don't think that the Mac version is saving the points you set, and therefore, the automix function is not working properly. This is a big BUG - as this setting points manually is the only way to insure that the tracks will come in and fade at the right points.
The other choices for automix can be useless on some songs....manual control is necessary. I am only using this for cocktail/dinner hours, so getting this automix thing down is really imperative to me. As a new new pro user - what should I do, do I open a ticket and try to get help from someone? That may sound like a stupid question....but I just can't seem to get any answers as to why this isn't working the way it possibly should and what I should do to rectify it if it is a user issue....but then again, it is the weekend. Perhaps I can get more info on fixing this during the week?

Automix entry / exit points are only visible when automix is actually engaged, or, of course, when manually editing. Otherwise, they don't show up, as they are not used for normal opetations. Another thing to remember is that the flags indicate where fading starts. For fast transitions, then, you would want a very small automix length setting (some folks use 0 for a "cut").
Patience is the key, and that leads to experience. It can take a lot of adjusting and tweaking to get things just right. Experiment with the settings until you get something you like. For example, trying to get two tracks to beatmatch using automix will involve different settings than a fade transition, and it can be challenging to get things set up. It sounds like you need some encouragement...You have to persevere until you get what you want--keep trying, and don't give up :)

Thanks -- appreciate the feedback. I am so used to using Traktor.....I have never had to think in terms of another software! I will keep at it - just wanted to make sure that I was on the right path and not doing something totally wrong! I am reassured to hear that the flags disappear - because they don't in traktor!

I am having the same issues with VDJ, the automix feature is the WORST thing ever, I don't want it to beat mix or anything clever I just want to have background music sounding nice and seguing at the right points which isn't always 2" or 4" etc etc, it's when it's musically right to do it so I go for the manual edit which is STILL REALLY BAD as it insists on fading in the new track.... when do you EVER fade in a track unless you are mixing, you fade one and bring in the other one hard.
I'm guessing that as you've come from Traktor the automix on that isnt very good? the best I've seen in auto mode is OTSDJ or OTSAV it's just rubbish in other ways which is why I came to VDJ... although I'm on the hunt for something else.

Ian, you're responding to a post that's almost 4 years old. There have been some changes over the years to the automix-function.
If I read your post right, you haven't changed anything in the automix-setup.

These are your options. Choosing the last option (None Back to back) won't fade in or out your music and you still wil be able to manually change your automix points.

Hope this helps you stick to VDJ ;)
