Topic: I'm just getting started, Day 1 and problems already.

Ok,

I have installed version 5.0.
I also have Serato Scratchlive.
Now beings SSL's Video experience won't work with out the Rane mixer, it has forced me to
look other places to accomplish Video Djing. I have researched so far that VDJ will work with
SSL box, and so I have aquired the 5.0 version from a friend before I decided to buy it.
I have had experiences with things not working after I buy them (Final Scratch) and decided
to never ever buy anything untill I can verify that it works on my system 100% with no serious
problems. Also my issue at the moment is that I'm in a foreign country where I don't speak the
language and I have not seen one place selling this software, so even if I can buy it here, who's
gonna help me directly with my problems?You see I'm a Dj that it touring Asia since 2000 and
when I buy something, it has to work efficiently enough where I'm not going to look like a fool in
front of hundreds of people and not getting in shit from my manager asking me what happened?
So as soon as I can verify that this program is going to get me through a 2 - 4 hour set without
any problem, I'll be more then happy to put down the very affordable price that VDJ is asking for
it's product! And by the way, if I do buy this program, I'll be posting it up on my website which
gets plent of hits each day and thats extra free promotion for VDJ....

One thing I can see a problem with is that when using the SSL time coded vynil is that when
I scratch, 50 % of the time the output to the secondary video is not showing any movement, the video
just freezes, and then some times it does show it. Also I have notice when I pick my needle up from the
record and drop it back to the beginning, the video keeps on playing from where it left off (it should be
starting the video in position from where the needle sits on the record, But it's not!)

Also i have experienced when i load up a video from my collection, both of my monitors display the video!
Why did this choose happen all of the sudden? ( how do I exit out of this mode when all I can see is video?
I finally guessed that Ctrl + V will exit me out of this disaster!)

So back to playing.... I have loaded up an mpg into deck 1, started to play and then loaded up declk 2 with
another video and noticed that the video won't even play but the audio does.

I'm only 1 day into putting this program together on my laptop and configuring it, I hope I can get some help
with my issues here and get it running smooth so I can go out and guy my own copy. I'm also noticing so many,
and I do mean an unbelievable amount of people having so much problems which is really tempting me to un-install
this program all together and just forget it with VDJ, but that wouldn't be fair, so I'm here giving it my best shot
and if it works out and I'm happy with the performance, I will have good things to say about this program to a number
of Dj's (future cusomters) for VDJ and it's crew. I'm not a novice Dj and no where near a bedroom Dj so I hope my
opinion counts here.

As I go through this set up of this program, I will be sure to update this thread as much as possible and lets hope at the
end of this thread a positive result happens.

As for my issues with this program to date, I hope sone can help me get it sorted out soon because I want to be able to use
this program at one of my office parties with promotion.

And a bunch more goodies for the studio that I'm just too lazy to type out. (sorry)

Support for Serato vinyls are limited.
Needle Drop dont work with serato vinyls and more...

A plugin is in the making that will make it work 100%, but until then, the support for Serato vinyls are only meant to give sort of an teaser.

The serato soundcard should work great though.

What I would recomment, is for you to get some VirtualDJ timecode vinyls, or Numark Virtual Vinyl vinyls, as both are working great with vdj.
 


As for the video problems, what kind of video files are you using?
 
I have converted all my files to mpg2.

But I notice that this thing happens with avi files also.

Here is something more on this matter.

When I load one avi or mpg file and play it on deck 1, everything is fine.
When the video gets to the end, I start deck 2 and within 15 seconds
the video stops on the second deck. then about 5 to 10 seconds later
the video continues for about 5 to 10 seconds then stop and repeats.
If I want this to stop on deck 2 all I have to do is load up a video into
deck one and once i drag a file into deck one the problem in deck 2's
video stops. And repeat.

This problem bounces from deck to deck.

I have tested this with both mpg and avi. It doesn't matter what format is used.

Forgot to ask,

Where can I buy the vynil and pay with paypal and have it shipped to China?

I know if I end up satisfied with this product I will end up having 4 records which
isn't all that bad of an idea.

I really dont userstand your video problem. Video use in VDJ works excellent..
Could you try a reinstall ?

The video issue could be codecs being used ... Also, have you tried changing from the Internal Video decoder to the Windows Media Player video decoder? This is done in the Config->Codecs tab.
 
 
I installed that codec, but got lost on how to impliment it... also how do you select it in the codecs tab in the gonfig menue?

Also I went to the link you supplied to buy the vinyl and the is no option to pay with paypal that that I can find, even when
selecting more payment options....

*Note: I'm not sure why you don't undestand my problem, I wrote it as clear as possible. try to follow it step by step on your
VDJ and see if it happens to you also. I don't know how much more clear i can explain what I mean. Even I read it over and over
and I still can't change it to be more clearly. Why don't you read it again and tell me what you think I mean, (this is called concept checking)
then I can correct you on what you might think I mean with the proper information. :-)
 
This sounds like a problem I had with a similar setup. The first player I would load a video to would play fine, but starting a video on the second player the audio would play and the video would freeze or skip.

I remember seeing a post somewhere to alter a video setting in windows from the best settting to a reduced setting and this fixed the problem for me. I'm sorry I can't recall the exact setting. It was either here or on the PCDJ boards.
 
Found it!


"Look at Hardware acceleration
I was having a problem with MANY MANY frames dropping on VOB files. The music would play, but the video would hang, the play for a few seconds, then hang.

Here's the setting I changed to fix it.

In the video properties dialog box (right click on the desktop and take properties)

click on the "settings" tab and then the "advanced" button. This opens another dialog box.

Click on the "troubleshoot" tab. You'll see a "hardware acceleration" slider. move it down until the message says:
"disable all directdraw and direct3d accelerations......"

This fixed the problem for me."

After doing this do your effects and transitions still work??
 
I know the transitions work, but I can't remember if the effects work or not. I'm training with the Dj that has that laptopk next week. so I won't know until Saturday.
 
Well stop on back and let me know. I know for sure if u disable the hardware acceleration within VDJ the effects and transitions don't work. If you are saying that the transitions are working with your above method of lowering the hardware acc within your graphics drivers you may be on to something here. Please let me know what you find:)
