I am using it and so far have no major issues with it. The files are MP4 which are compressed a bit more and a slight difference is notable from a VOB but nothing major. Since i've joined they have managed to add videos regularly and most of the extends and mashups are pretty good.

Great Stuff!
Highly Recommended!!

Thanks guys
I just might give them a try. Still waiting for the new venuevj to become available.

How much of a difference is there between the vob and mp4?

I CAN'T FIND SMASHVIDS? ANY HELP? OR ANY OTHER MUSIC VIDEO SUBSCIPTION DOWNLOAD SITES.

Smashvidz.com

Not much of a difference between VOB and MP4. I played the same video side by side at the same time and it wasn't a great difference. Noticeable by maybe u and i as professionals but i doubt t he crowd will ever notice. Besides, the fact most of the videos have extended intros and have all of those stupid skits and intermissions edited out of it makes it a lot easier to blend with them.
I highly recommend giving them a try

the service is good if you perhaps want to start vjing and beef up your collection quickly.

however, i would still go with promo only and make my own extended edits... in that regard, the service is standard in my opinion and i don't like the mp4 quality... when you're on huge 9x12 foot projection screens as i do, the quality is vital!

I personally think they screwed themselves when they went to monthly instead of per track. I can't personally justify spending $30 and up for a service that doesnt have that many vidz. I know they are growing rapidly, but I would prefer to purchase the tracks on an individual basis. If you are listening Smashvidz you guys should try to offer both a monthly subscription and also a pay per track deal.

Agreed Brian

I also felt that way about the per track issue. But as someone who just started with videos i need to get a collection quick. Not to mention the extended intro's are great.
I don't use my projection screen often so i wouldn't know how they look on such a large screen, but as far as 42" and 50" plasma's go they look fine.
The best bet for you would be to give it a try. Go to there website, you'll find a link that will give you directions on how to try them out.

a per track basis is not possible with label support. thats y the site quickly changed, labels turned away @ the idea.

As far as the quality. Theres a sample to dl. I personally play on a 11 foot screen. It looks great. Maybe your not encoding the mp4s correctly. IMO you can see alot more distortion on plasmas compared to a projector. So if they look good on a plasma they will look perfectly fine on a projector. Even a straight dvd playing on a plasma hooked up with hdmi will have artifacts. You have to understand the video it self is SD not HD.

i like Promo only, works well, usually on time

promo only is without a doubt the best "original video provider" ;-)

promo only doesn't offer downloadable content or extended mixes.

From the demo on the smashvidz website it looks like mostly RnB clips, can anyone confirm if there is much house or pop dance music there?

exactly its all urban videos.

I get smashvidz and lately they have been putting up old stuff like Bon Jovi remixes and they now have a dance section.

anybody got a full list of what videos they have on there? I couldn't find one quickly on their website.
