Topic: Trying to add my own cover art

I have a friend that sings with me at many of my gigs and he had a cd made professionaly so I carry all his music with me,,and I thought it would be cool to surprise him with an album cover I made of him.He has yet to see this feature in VDJ on my laptop and after I show him a few things I would then bring up his cover art with his songs listed.
What I have done so far is made a JPEG at 170x170, 300x300 and dropped it into his music folder that is listed in the database but I cant get the cover to show,I have tried setting it locally but it will not come up,There are no tags associated with this in the file info except for BPM, ALBUM,TITLE.

Anything I can do to get it to see this pic?

If it is accompanying a song it has to be named the same Artist - Title.jpg
 
I have named the cover the same as the artist.So what I have to do is name the pic with the artist/song.jpeg?
example..MICHAEL REA.JPEG is the file name.
So this has been listed in the title line?

i think what brian is trying to tell you is MICHEAEL RAE - SONG TITLE.jpeg make sure both audio & picture file are the same, artist - title finishing .mp3 for audio & .jpeg for picture

I use iTunes to attach album cover to my songs. In iTunes; right click the song(s), select Get Info, click the Artwork tab, click the Add... button and then locate the jpeg file for the song(s). And then, in VirtuaDJ when you right click the song and go to File Infos and then click on Cover, the album cover will be shown in the ID3 tag. I prefer this way because I don't have to worry about the naming and the location of my jpeg files.

here is how get it to show up if you got the songs in a folder right clik on the folder clik on properties clik on customize clik on choose picture and look for the picture of your friend clik on it then clik apply now it will be on your friend folder.if this don't work use wmp11 right clik on the picture clik on copy in wmp11 look for hie list of songs right clik on the cd case then clik on paste album art once it's on wmp vdj will see it.hope this help
 
this suppose to be a dj software not a cover art editor and you wonder why they call it a jack of all trades, but is cool that could be done
 
Thanks guys..you have given me some possible options to try when I can get home.

Have you tried show logo or placing it as a slide show except just the one picture will be viewed.
 
Im not sure I know what you mean by SHOW LOGO or how to get to that point.....but no I havnt tried it as a slide show...yet.

Please remember..his music in his folder doesnt have any tags except for what I can manually input in the file info page.

I got it to show in WMP11 OK but when I go back to VDJ I can see it when I click on cover and it is listed only in the WMP data and double-clicking on it does not send it in to VDJ and stick.Did I miss something said?
I have tried renaming the pic and listing it in a variety of ways in the file info but no show that way,

Im close though..WMP11 so far got me the furthest but wont stay in VDJ
 
Wait you say that the files are named in VDJ (songs), what do the actual files look like, what are they named??
 
to clarify the naming issue, it's needs to look like this:

Audio filename: 01. Artist - Title.mp3
Picturefilename: 01. Artist - Title.mp3.jpeg

In other words, the full filename of the Audio file, including the extension, must be present before the .jpeg

In your case, this may be something like:

Michael Rae - Song Name.mp3
Michael Rae - Song Name.mp3.jpeg

Hope this clears any confusion.

To further clarify it needs to be named like this in Windows ie. find the song in windows and make sure it is named the same as the .jpg.
 
Ok I have beaten myself senseless on this idea and this is the way I have the files listed...

Pic named (Michael Rea.jpeg)

Song name (Call Me Irresponsible.wma)

I have renamed the pic to match the song, no go
I have renamed the pic with Michael Rea-Call Me Irresponsible.jpeg , no go
I have tried Call Me Irresponsible.wma - Michael Rea.jpeg..no go (placing it in the Title line in VDJ FILE INFO)

WMP11 sees it with no problem on all his songs, but VDJ wont accept it in the cover choices when its listed in wmpdata.
Google pops up pics and that accepts anyone of those and places it as cover art with Michaels songs..go figure eh?
 
They both have to be Artist - Title.mp3 and Artist - Title.jpg Find the song in Windows and rename it like is posted and make the jpg the same!!

Does the jpeg have to be in the same folder as the mp3? and is the cover so that you can search by covers or display a corresponding cover on a screen?
 
Yes the cover and the mp3 need to be in the same folder. AND NAMED THE SAME:)
 
"Call Me Irresponsible.wma.jpg" should work as long as both files are in the same folder.

NOTE: the extension from the audio files SHOULD ALSO be in the name of the JPEG, unlike others have instructed.

So you will end up with:
Audio: Call Me Irresponsible.wma
Image: Call Me Irresponsible.wma.jpg

And if you don't have the file extension shown in Windows, then it will look like:

Audio: Call Me Irresponsible
Image: Call Me Irrespansible.wma

As the ".wma" from the first file, and the ".jpg" from the second file are hidden from view.
 
Ok I have renamed this pic like this:

Call Me Irresponsible.wma.jpeg and its in the Michael Ray folder with his other songs.
The song name is Call Me Irresponsible.wma and thats in there also.

I right cllick on his tune in VDJ and go to File Info and his song is listed as
FILE NAME : Call Me Irresponsible.wma
ARTIST: Michael Rea
TITLE: Call Me Irresponsible
GENRE: LEFT BLANK
COMMENT: LEFT BLANK

I choose cover after setting in the config/browser to "download no matter what" and I have also tried "Local search only" and his pic shows up only in the Local WMP Database and thats where it stays.

I think it should show at this point..unless something has to be added in the File Info lines..
