iCDX from Numark and Pioneer CDJ-400, have the advantage of being midi/hid players, that can control VDJ directly, without the need of timecode. And at the same time are real cd players that can play CD's
Tested and working CD players for timecode from my side are:
- CDJ 100 (non scratch)
- CDJ 200 (non scratch)
- CDJ 800 (scratch deck)
- CDJ 1000 (scratch deck)
- Denon 3500 (scratch deck)
- Denon 5000 (scratch deck)
I'm sure the Axis from Numark will work too. But its somewhat between a non-scratch/scratch deck, as it dont have a touch sensitive platter in the real sense of it. And same goes for iCDX really. One can pull of cool scratches for sure, but not the DMC style uzi scratchin ...
But that might not be what you want either ;)
Another way to go, since you already have a CD player (numark CDN-88s) that could be cool for backup/cd play, is simply adding a rackmount midi controller to your rack, that will look nice next to the Numark CDN-88.... such as Numark DMC-2. Might be a sexy setup too ;) and cheap.. supported nativly in VirtualDJ, no hazzle
