Topic: FLAC issues in vdj on vista Ultimate x64

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

so i have a bunch of flac files i'd like to use with virtual dj, i used to be able to run flac fine when i set it up on xp but now for the life of me can't get it to work on my new 64 bit vista ultimate loaded laptop. i have a lot of music in flac i'm missing out on playing now and can't seem to resolve this issue. any help would be amazing! i'm not on the forum too much so if you could email me a long with a reply on here that would be most appreciated! thanks!-

hmm, is flac ported for 64-bit o/s? that might be your problem. just to check though, you did reinstall the flac codec and it does work in something like winamp?

yes def works in other programs, winamp, media player, media player classic, and traktor.

and you added the extension with the dll in the config? strange, i imagine it should work..?

yup i go to codecs add, then add flac, and i use general windows mediaplayer audio decoder like i read somewhere and every time i load a flac file it just says error next to it. i've followed the same steps with XP and had it work fine... =/ i don't know what dll files you're talking about, am i missing something? thanks!

Does VDJ work?

I might be wrong, but I thought VDJ didnt work on 64bit OS

yup everything else works like a charm it's just not designed to run on 64 bit. i've been giggin' with it for the last two months or so.

cool ;)

Really odd that the flac dont work, as it should work if it works in Windows Media Player.

yea it sucks i think its because windows media player is in a different location in 64 bit. i also just got a BCD-3000 and having one hell of a time trying to get that to work on vista 64 bit, argh soooo frustrating!

Well, since 64bit is a bit unspupported by several, why not set up a dual boot?

Boot into XP/Vista 32bit, when you want to mix and use BCD 3000

yea looks like thats what imma have to do, sucks cause i have a gig tonight and wanted to use flac and my bcd. do you know if its possible to do xp 32 bit and vista 64 i love 64 besides not being compatible with random stuff.

yes its possible ;) you just need to make a new partition or if you have several disk, use on of them

I have XP and Vista, in dual boot myself

thanks a bunch. oh i totally just now got flac to work, i was messing around in the old media player on my old laptop trying to get flac to work and even after installing the flac codec from the flac website it wouldn't work so i had to get the ogg codec pack from their site. heres some linkage. thanks everyone.

you mean you got it working now? In Vista 64bit`?

yes i have flac running in virtual dj on vista 64 bit due to the link i posted above, now i just need to get this damn mixer goin' =P thanks so much

Okay, I tried the link above and it is apparently down.

I don't know if you need this to get flac to work in Virtual Vinyl/VDJ on 64-bit, but this is the only flac codec I have on my system:

http://codecs.dbpoweramp.com/codecs-new/dBpoweramp-Codec-FLAC.exe (FLAC R.14)

Alternately, the appropriate flac codec for your system can be downloaded from:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

All I did was create a codec extension in VV for flac and point it to the GENERAL INTERNAL AUDIO DECODER.

Works like a charm.
