So there I was last night, nice mellow sound looping away whilst scratching some rather cliched samples on the left deck. My 4 year old walks in and takes control of the left deck using the HDJC left jog wheel. He scratches back and forth perfectly in time with the beat. "This is nice," thinks daddy. Nipper even says, "this is catchy music."
Then he drops the bomb. "I know how they really make this scratching sound," he says. "They have a different kind of CD (that'll be a record then) and a stick that goes onto the CD (that'll be the turntable arm), and they go like this with their hand (moves hand like a pro)."
So it's official, even 4 year olds know scratching without vinyl is just plain wrong :o)
BTW I have no idea how the heck he knows how "they" really scratch.
