Don't expect to post here much but I have brand new Prodigy FX. Was using Numark Axis 9's but they wore out.
Prodigy FX are great for the mobile DJ that needs to be compact yet flexible. They are great for me because I need to be able to connect many items. Sometimes karaoke machines, tape decks, etc. For the price the package is great because it comes with a coffin. I spent the same amount on my Numark Axis 9's four years ago and was still missing features. The Prodigy FX is touch sensitive and works with Virtual DJ pro ver 5.0 timecode CD and the MAYA44 USB with an install of ASIO4ALL.
I have been using Virtual DJ since 2005 and must say it is far superior than PCDJFX which I also purchased simply because it doesn't freeze up and jam like PCDJFX. Don't get me wrong PCDJFX is good but not for a large hard drive. It sucks up too much resources trying to code all the songs. Virtual DJ doesn't appear to have that problem. I am using a SONY laptop which I have never connected to the Internet to keep the trash and garbage out.
I was using the DAC-3 controller and may switch back to using it simply because I need to be able to play regular CD's. It seems that I cannot play both the time coded and regular cds while connected to the Direct out of the Prodigy FX. Maybe my connection is wrong and I will still trouble shoot to see what I can come up with.
I can attest that the Virtual DJ software packaged with the DAC-3 controller and the INDIGO DJ sound card running into my mixer worked just great at large events for many years. I can attest that the Prodigy FX is great and I have used it at several large gigs in the past month with no problem. It actually made my setup faster.
I am still testing the MAYA44 and timecode to Prodigy FX. I have gotten it to work but like I said I need to be able to play both regular CDs and laptop MP3s. All effects on the Prodigy FX work fine with virtual DJ.
~Going to sleep will check back in a month or so...good luck!

No problem Kev!
So I'm back sooner that a month...well funny thing is that I was testing the system with the timecoded CDS and the software last night.
I had the Prodigy FX connected to my software and running timecoded CDS on Line 1 and Line 2.
I figured out that all I had to do to play CDS was to switch from Line 1 and Line 2 over to CD1 and CD2.
Then eject the timecoded CDS and play regular Audio CDS.
This worked fine for me.
You could also use the CD-ROM on your laptop. When you insert the CD into your computer, it will appear under your library. Click on the CD and the tracks will be displayed in the tracks list. Be sure to disable any third-party CD Auto-Play functions before inserting a CD.
CYA!

How exactly did you hook up your Prodigy B-52 to Your ESI Maya 44? As far as lines in and out. Since the B-52 is an all in one.

You will need to use timecode CD's ( http://www.virtualdj.com/products/timecode/cd.html ) with a 4-in/4-out ASIO sound card such as Hercules DJ Trim, Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ, ESI Maya44 USB, etc.
Instructions on how to setup timecode CD's can be found in the VirtualDJ user manuals: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/PDFManuals.html

also the wiring diagram can be seen on next to last page of the online prodigy manual. pretty simple... cd outs to interface ins ...and interface outs to lines 1 and 2 in....set vdj to time code cds, download the free vdj cds, burn em, put em in and rock out.

"i just recently snatched up the virtual dj program and i already have the prodigy b52s what software do i need to connect my labtop to my prodigys?"
U Just need an interface to connect ur Prodigy to ur laptop...i use the maya 44 usb, u can get them on ebay pretty cheap. and wire it the same way the online manual says to wire serato...the hardest part is getting the right freqs from ur tccd's... it takes a lil tweakin in ur timecode config. as far as ur effects on the prodigy ...for the most part they are disabled...u can use reverse and barely get a trans ...best to use VDJ's with your mouse.
there is NO MIDI on the b52...only audio..its like runnin 2 tt's thru a mixer and into an interface...just sound. the cd control on the b52 i think out performs VDJ's mp3 control.
