Topic: Asio Sound card Problems Can anyone help please - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

My problems is as follows
Hi

Been using a sound blaster live card while testing virtual dj, was always impressed with the sound quality from the card, but never had a lot of luck in setting the left deck on one jack socket and right deck on jack socket 2. (virtual DJ seem's aliitle weak for this option, been told older versions worked better ???)

So I have upgraded to a sound blaster audigy 2zs card (very nice, great sound, very happy ... but...) again having the same problems where both decks audio come out the same jack socket on the sound card.

I have tried all sorts of options and config modes in Virtual DJ, still no luck ????

I then started selecting ASIO under virtual DJ (sounds great, works great, but still need audio to come out of two sockets, left deck and right deck on each socket)

My last mad attempt get ASIO on seperate sockets for each deck was to add two audigy 2 zs cards (not so cheap, but if it worked i would suffer, ) Both sound cards work fine but virtual DJ will not let assign 1 card for one deck and other card for the other deck using asio option why ??

Why is something so simple so hard to do ??

Any help will be appreciated

Regards John

I don't use that card, but let's see what I can do. Are you using an external mixer? If so, is the crossfader of the internal mixer, in the middle? You only need one of these cards. What are your settings in the sound setup?

Hi yes

Using a Formula Sound FSM600 Mixer, so I have two stereo leads comming away from my PC

Deck 1 on virtual DJ is ---> L & R Channels (lead 1)

Deck 2 on virtual DJ is ---> L & R Channels (lead 2)

Now I do require virtual dj to use the ASIO drivers / option for all audio channels and I'm happy to use either 1 or two sound cards, though one would be better.

In trying this out with two cards and and ASIO selected I can only get audio comming out of one card or the other sound card, (and the cross fader only crosses between the two decks on the SAME audio output !) I want the cross fader to cross between two different outputs on one card or cross between one output on two seperate cards with ASIO selected.

There is an option for two sound cards in virtual DJ when you have two sound cards installed and this works fine when selected but does not give ASIO option ???

Let's forget the two sound-card set up for now. I'm not sure if VDJ will recognize two of the same card. In set up outputs, you have 2 line mixer, sound cards ASIO, ASIO driver you should see your card. When you go to ASIO config, how do you have it setup? Output channels what are you using, 1/2 left deck, 3/4 right deck?

Yes with one card i get the ASIO option 1/2 left deck, 3/4 and when I select this I still get both decks out of one socket.

My Creative Audigy2 ZS Card has Three stereo out sockets, I can only seem to get audio from one socket only ??

Hey,

did you try ASIO4ALL (www.asio4all.com)? It's an ASIO wrapper for basically all soundcards.
You can enable/disable channels there and VDJ will recognize it as it gets its own ASIO/Soundcard entry in VDJ.
Give it a try!

Do you have the jack plugged into the correct output? As I said I don't know the config, so does it work if you use 5/6? Have you tried the 3 line mixer option, since you have three outputs? Which channel are you getting sound out of, anyway? Can you give me a link to the specs for this sound card?

Thanks Mumpi will try

Here is the link for my card (this is great sound card and one of the best Creative have ever made, it just does not seem to do what virtual DJ says in the way of output config) very strange ??

http://asia.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=204&product=4915

I have tried the 3 mixer out and all other out options and still no joy, also have tried other Sound Blaster Card With Multi Outputs and no Joy with them to.

I think this could be a bug in virtual DJ ?? as it seems to do this on the full range of creative cards ??

Someone told me the older 3.x versions of virtual DJ work better on creative soundblaster cards ??

hi johny could u sketch a diagram how u set it up?.. FYI i use one of the audigy cards but that more to recording stuff as an audio interface or as a second/spare card in Djing..

This is my card which i have been using for 3 yrs plus n still rocking:)

Creative Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro.

PS: Have u tried in the sound panel of Creative surrond panel n enable all the options..Example line 1, 2 ,3...etc?? Maybe that helps:)

I have never heard anything bad about Soundblaster and VDJ. This sounds like a channel is muted or not turned on in some way. Is there a menu you can check? By the way, is this XP or Vista?

Hi

The os is windows xp

I have installed the correct creative drivers from soundblaster website, but when configuring the ASIO / Sound in VDJ you would expect one deck to mute, depending what channel on the mixer is up and what deck is assigned to what output.

no matter what setting i choose with asio i get both decks output from the same jack socket on the sound card,

this has done this in VDJ with sound blaster cards (live 5.1 / Audigy2 / and the new XFI card which I do not like anyway)

for some reason VDJ is not splitting the audio to what sockets it says it is, it still is keeping both decks comming out of output socket 1

Here my settings (there is bug somewhere !!)

Selected (output as EXTERNAL MIXER)

Selected (ASIO Driver)

Selected (output 1/2 left Deck .... output 3/4 Right Deck)

From the above it all looks as one would expect to and this should work .....

but no ... no audio on any other output socket other than output 1 and guess what mixed audio from both deck (the crossfader just goes between both deck with the audio from both decks on output 1)

Crazy Crazy.

so, did you try ASIO4ALL yet?

No

I will do right now, thanks for the info

I will be supprised if this works, beacuse I don't think this problem is a ASIO driver problem, but more an error in VDJ 5 ??

anyway I am going for it right now (downloading _)

Thanks, will let you know my out come

John

Ok just installed It

Just as I thought no luck ??? but when you select ASIO4ALL driver in VDJ It sounds different to the creative soundblaster AASIO driver.

I think it sounds better to ??, and there is alot more control over the ASIO buffer etc settings with ASIO4ALL,

BUT this means there is still a major problem with Virtual DJ 5 when selecting decks to soundblaster card outputs

Virtual DJ tells you, you are assigning left deck to one output and right to the other, but it does not, they always come out of output 1( I think this is leading towards a software error in VDJ5 ??, i could be wrong though )

could you post a screenshot of your ASIO / ASIO4ALL settings in VDJ

image 2
http://i8.tinypic.com/6ujwcpw.jpg

I sure this is a major error with VDJ ver.5 that no one has detected !!!

as i said earlier i can only get audio out of socket one on these cards (all sound blaster)

1) xfi new card
2) audigy 2 zs
3) live 5.1

All cards are sound blaster and have more than one output, but you can not get audio on any other output that socket 1

Can some one please investigate this problem

unfortunately the first image seems to be corrupt i would upload it again

i have embedded the second one for you

what we need to be the most helpful to you is a screen shot of what you see when you press ASIO settings

this may have been what was on picture one i guess :)
