Topic: Couldn't install 4.3 mac version

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I copied the full install 4.3 mac version file to the desktop of a new macbook (1 gbyte ram, 80 gB HD).
When I went to install the file an error came up saying "There is no default application specified to open the document, - choose application or cancel were the two choices offered.

I checked the info on the file and it said "37 mbyte on disk"?

Is there some special way to open these exec files for installation. I know very little about Apple/Mac operations?


Please help and steer me in the right direction, thank you.

download it again , sounds currupted

then double click the dmg file

a white disk will now apear on your destop

double click install VDJ
 
okay thx, didn't know if apple/mac had special ways of installing files. Some guy here at school said that files only install if installed into a folder called"my apple"? Does this make sense?

aplications are installed in the aplications folder

the registry as such is stored in the libary folders > preferences

vdj skins , databases and plugins are stored in Documents
 
Sky, What size should the fullmac 4.3 exe file be?
 
lol Please ask your friend where he got "my apple" from....
 
The only thing I can think of is that the folders "application" were renamed at this school to be "my apple"; or,
He really said "my applications" and I misunderstood him. In either case, I found the applicatiuons folder and
determined it was a bad install file and downloaded another abd tried that, "then I got the error msg "administrators password
required", which I don't have.
