Topic: Fatal Error because of DAYLIGHT SAVING time change?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Checked for previous post on this matter - didn't find any. Hope I'm not repeating info.

Last night (Saturday 10/27/2007) the city of San Antonio Texas USA was celebrating Halloween. I was Using Virtual DJ 5.0 rev.4 playing video and mp3’s and the program is running stable with no glitches.
Suddenly at ~1:00 AM the dreaded SMILEY FACE fatal error in the middle of an mp3 – Clicked on smiley face – VDJ completely shut down.
I restarted VDJ and finished the night without a problem.

This year, Daylight Savings time change is not supposed to occur until the night of November 3, however it used to change this very Saturday night. I went to check my daily desktop and no Automatic time change had occurred (probably from MS’s Service packs). Checked my gig machine and Bingo – time change had occurred (assuming took place @ ~ 1 AM - time smiley face showed it's dreaded face).

I’m not sure if this would cause the Program’s Smiley Face to come on because VDJ has a Clock on it (the good guys from VDJ can tell us for sure), but I now have changed my Daylight Savings time automatic option to the following:

Start > Control Panel > Date and Time > Time Zone (tab) > Uncheck “Automatically adjust for daylight saving changes”.

Since this year Daylight Savings is supposed to occur on Saturday night of NOVEMBER 3, I would suggest to my fellow VDJ’s to make the above change before then.

Hopefully this will save some people some headaches and some bruised egos. lol

PEACE

I've been on the fence oabout this setting because of the changes, too. Sorry to hear that it caused a problem for you, I think I'll follow suit. Thanks for posting ;)

Daylight saving time in the UK was this morning at 2am. I worked right through it without any problems, just letting you know in case it helps anyone.

Same here, didn't even get a pop-up window off XP telling me the time had changed, all went fine.
