A friend of mine loaded the latest version of VDJ and while it was running it cut out etc the CPU meter was full, dose this mean his processor is not powerful enough?

What are the specs of the system he is using?
By default, I would answer NO, because you will see spikes to 99% on single core machines when a track is loaded; 50%+ on dual core machines are 100% 1 CPU/ Low load on 2nd CPU = 50%+ overall.
So it's easier to answer that question with some specs about the machine (CPU, Memory, etc )

just emailed him n got the spec of the laptop he was using.
