Topic: Network Attatched Storage?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'd like to expand the storage on my computer.

Would it be possible to store everything on a server off another computer or using a network attached storage?

I'm looking to buy a NAS. Would 100mb/s be good enough (performance wise) for mixing in Virtual DJ? what about Itunes(if anyone knows)

Or should I opt for a USB interface instead? 480mb/s

Thanks!

Please register your version of Virtual DJ. Thanks.

Thanks - but its not registered. I am using the Trial to see if it works with Vista/my sound card and an external hard drive before I commit.

OK, well hope to see you soon....

Answer to your question, If you do the networking thing, then it's also going to depend on the quality of your computer/server etc. You create to many "variables." I would just stick to an external drive. That way you can also take it where ever you need it.

I ordered a USB 2.0 drive with raid support. Hopefully it works out

Hope it works out too. I think you'll be happy with the results.

It does work.

Just takes about 10 seconds to load the "Music: list in Itunes

thanks!

Network storage also works fine, i have 5 different pc's all networked using mapped drives to a vdj machine and it works with no problem at all, it can sometimes take a while to buffer a video file but music files play fine
