Topic: Bad analysis of lame VBR encoded MP3

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,

I try again to report this very old bug.
MP3 encoded with Lame VBR are not correctly
analysed by VDJ. There are, at least, 2 known
consequencies :
* in the pre-listening window, the song ends before
the cursor reaches the end of the progress bar.
* the "mix fade" end marker of a song is very often
out of the song range.

This bug is very annoying for those who are using
the "force fade" automix because the mix will start to late
(the song never reaches the end marker so the mix starts
when the song is completly stopped).

Thank you Keyon !!!!!!!!
I am reporting this bug again and again since earth
creation and nobody answers me ..... :-(
In the french forum, I'm talking to myself .....

This is a bug that should be corrected because making
a bad analysis of MP3 files ..... hum ..... it's incredible
for VDJ.

so this could be the reason why my music stops sometime in the autoplay mode, or not loading a next track? it will stop or repeat the last song.

samen problem here with DJ Console Edition. VBR songs are detected as being much longer. This is triggering the max load function for short songs preventing them to load properly.

very annyoing.

I don't think this should be called a "bug". I think VDJ is designed for using CBR files. It seems to be that I read somewhere in one of these forum threads that once a vbr file is played through, it'll show up properly from then on. Try it.

yes, after playing thru once, vbr shows up; however, what it still won't do is place intro/outro markers in them by default for use with automix. That has to be done manually to work with automix correctly -- which for those with thousands of files in VBR, is much too time consuming to do. I'd say 1/4 of my library is VBR, which is about 5,000 vbr files.

Most major encoders these days give you an option to encode in VBR. So while CBR may be the standard, VBR has recently become more prevalant. So I'd hope that vdj would be able to incorporate vbr to work the same as cbr. it may not be a bug, but I'd say it's a detractor.

Hello all,

I never said VDJ was not showing the duration or not playing
any VBR file correctly. Playing a VBR file is supported very
well, and the time counters are OK. And if VDJ accepts to
load VBR files, I understand that VBR files are supported ...

The "VBR analysis bug" concerns 2 functions :

* the in/out markers : the most frequent problem is to have
no end marker in fade mode.
* the "pre-listening window" : when you "prelisten" to a song
by right-clicking on it, the song will end before the cursor
reaches the end of the progress bar. And if you manually
move the cursor to somewhere just before the end of its
range, you will ear a strange loop.
